  1. oh jeez not that f'ing map again. It's one of my favs, but it's the only map that acts up on a regular basis :(
  2. Ya, it would be like a single thread forum as the main body of the page, with an auto updated playerlist (with icons showing you who got killed / voted out, who's the wolves if your the seer, etc), special killer / seer / admin controls, on a sidebar. And at the top of the page would be a timer counting down to the next event (wolf makes another kill / a vote is finalized, etc) Like I said, t would be a lot of easy to make small modules to make one unified game interface. I'll make a thread about the proposed software later on today after I finalize my notes, and we can all move the talk about it to there and do what we do best in this thread: ACCUSE EACH OTHER OF BEING A WEREWOLF!
  3. I drew up a blueprint of what would have to be done to automate this game last night, immeditelly after I posted. Although no one part is all that hard to do by themselves (it all boils down to having a small database, and making calls to it), having three sets of time based mechanichs (When the wolves can kill, executing the kill, when the seer can see, and when votes are allowed), was confusing enough just to describe in the outline, nevermind getting it coded. I'll probabally work on the game on and off just a s a fun side project, but since theres no ovewhelming demand for it, I'm not gonna be pulling all nighters rushing for a release. besides the weak point would definatelly be having a known cheater like TFMF having read/write access to the database, and unfairly knowing who was what.
  4. Another person is running a several instances of a different steam server on this machine. He's in the process of ironing out some bugs atm, so the lag shouldn't be around that much longer. Thanks for the heads up, I thought you were just a myth - a story that crooks told their kids at night to scare them :)
  5. Yeah, it could be php-ized without TOO much trouble. Basiclly one would need to make a database, and assign a flag to player status attribute (wolf, seer, or villager). Whoever would be pegged as seer (either manually assigned by the admin, or randomized) would get like a drop down menu with a list of all the other player that they could use to see if player x was a wolf or not. i just finished up a coding project, and if enough people express an interest in this kind of application, then fire away supportive PM's, and I'll see about coding something up. The only flaw, however would be security, and privacy. Nothing is 100% secure from someone that just HAS to know who the wolves are. Take MM stalking the "Who's Online" page for example. That was whack dude. ps. if I do rig something up, it'll be vampire themed, damn it.
  6. If theres a possibility of vampires, I'm in.
  7. Can we change it to vampires instead of werewolves?
  8. call me a traditionalist, but I've only really needed fdisk for this sort of thing. Partition Magic is a decent program too, I understand. I don't know how or why, but I have a partition Magic tshirt in my closet right now.
  9. Remember - Once we make contact with an advanced alien civilization, the medical knowadge we could potentially get from them would be staggering!
  10. My first official act as an administrator of this domain, is to lead a team of dedicated people to further humanity's understanding of the universe. This teams main objective is to scan signals found in space, and analyze them looking for an intellegent signals. Once we locate, and make contact with intellegent alien life in the heavens, we will trade vast quantities of common sea water for their faster then light space travel technology, weapons, and green slave girls. Yes, I'm serious. Everyone's heard of Seti @ home, I recon. Can anybody think of any compelling reasons why we SHOULDN'T all download and install the client, join the NiteSciFi.com team, and be a part of history? I didn't think so.
  11. There can be only one, Highlander.
  12. If you want to think about who Fox would pick for wolves rationally, heres some example calculations to keep in mind when you vote. - It's no secret that TFMF, [MM], and myself are all friends OUTSIDE of NiteSciFi, and regularly game together. Would this make Fox more or less likely to select MM and I for special roles? Would it be too obvious? - TFMF is Scottish. Would he be more likely or less likely to choose other Scots? Maybe he picked an all euro cast for this show. - TFMF is a moderator, and naturally has resentment for forum members that like to 'stir the pot'. Whoever he selected for certian roles may reflect this. - Fox and TetsuoShima both collaborated on the upgrades to this forum together. Could they still be in cahoots? - TFMF is a student of technology, that implies that he has excellent mathematical / reasoning skills. Whoever he picked for the roles will certianlly reflect this. - The Seer has ALREADY TOLD YOU WHO ONE OF THE WOLVES ARE SEVERAL TIMES.
  13. I don't give a flarny-floon over how often someone posts, before I bother to make wild allogations about who the wolves are. Why? because I know that people have lives outside of the NiteSciFi forums, and don't have all day to sit at their comps hitting refresh. I sure as sugar know that I do. Can somebody please explain the reasoning behind the logic of "Player 1 only made 2 posts, therefor he must be the wolf." it makes no rational sense. My voting strategy? Easy. I ask TFMF if Player X is the wolf, he answers. If the answer is in the affirmitive, I vote for that person, and let the rest of you know. If the answer is in the negitive, I wait for the next chance to ask. It's just damned lucky that I nailed one on the first try. BTW, I asked if [MM] was the other wolf, the answer is no. And here's my vote for neomaster again.
  14. I vote for neomaster, then he votes for me immediatelly afterwards. Makes sense. Attack, counterattack. Why was Tablet the only other person to vote against me? Do I know (or potentially will know) something that he dosen't want YOU to know? What is more dangerous? Mis-information, or censored information? Knowing that he was going to get lynched anyways, perhaps he was trying to eliminate me, as I've claimed to be the seer. Maybe I'm lying about being the seer, and HE was the real seer, keeping his identy a secret, and voted against me out of spite? Or maybe he was afraid that I would use my seer powers on him next and expose his dirty secret. Or maybe he just dosen't like me, or picked a name at random? Once again I urge everyone to take out neomaster.
  15. Every time I install XP onto a computer, I also install the BlackViper registry files to optimize the default system services. This is great, as it saves you a ton of ram and CPU cycles by disabeling what you don't need running all the time, or at all (Volume Shadow Copy, Indexing, DHCP Server, Themes, etc). The CD I had my copies on got a little TOO scratched up, and I can't get the rars off it :( And the BlackViper website it's self went offline a few years ago, and I can't find anyt mirrors of the orignal files in a reasonable amount of time. Since there are a lot of tech savvy members here, I'm hoping that SOMEONE knows what I'm talking about, and would happen to have the XP Pro Gamer, and the XP Pro Default configs handy that I could get a copy of.
  16. Guys, I'm telling you as the seer that it was neomaster. I'm looking at the PM from TFMF right now.
  17. Guys, TFMF told me not to tell you guys this, but what the hell -I'm the Seer. neomaster is a wolf.
  18. My best time for beating the game is 89 turns. Once you know the secret to infecting every country, it's easy to exterminate humanity in the allotted time. However since spreading to other continates is MOSTLY left to chance (there is only so much you can activlly do) it gets a little frusterating when your clicking GO over and over again, and nothing is happening, except your spendable points going up.
  19. You won't believe how long I've been waiting for a topic like this. Speaking as a man who once rigged up a beer cap to hold an Intel fan onto an AMD processor, and routinely wedges fans inbetween video cards and PCI cards, let me be the first to comment on this one. Depending on where you taped the fan in, over heating and melting IS very likely to happen. However, if it does melt, it probabally won't cause any damage to the card directelly, but it WILL stink up the place nicely, and all that melted plastic will eventually muck up the internals of your card. If you're gonan use tape, stay the hell away from the core (the hot squarish thing on the top side of the card) and the memory chips (the black rectangles) as they generate a lot heat. If your mother board has a lot of PCI slots, you might want to try wedging a fan in. You can do this by having a wide PCI card (such as an Audigy 2 sound card) into the fourth slot (counting from the top slot, then downwards). The way it's spaced out you can carefully wedge in an 80 mm fan inbetween your AGP video card, and whatever card you have in the fourth slot. Make sure your comp is powerd off for this, eh? You can either leave your side panel out, and have the fan blow the air out of the case, or you can take the PCI guards out of all the slots (the metal tab thingies that get in your way when you try to install a PCI device thats built into the rear of the case), and position the fan to blow air out those slots.
  20. sign me up too Fox :)
  21. I brought back my sites image hosting service as well. If you like, you can upload your stuff to http://www.itsazero.com/images/upload
  22. I like the darker theme better too, and here's why. A reading text on monitor is NOT the same as reading text on a piece of paper. If you're reading the forum in the middle of the day, or in a well lit room then yeah, dark text on a light background is great. At night, or in a poorly lit room it strains the eyes too much, as your basiclly stairing at a light bulb. That being said, I love the new colours, and I really dig the design so much that I'm leaving this as my default theme. However, I'm also hoping tht this is still a work in progress, and the darks get replaced with lights, and the lights get repalced with darks.
  23. next-generation graphics model (such as Aero™ Glass, Windows® Presentation Foundation, the Desktop Window Manager, and the new graphics driver model) Aero Glass and Desktop window manager LOOK cool, yes. But they are a large part of the reason that Vista's system requirements are insanely high. The system requirements for these 2 features are about the same as running Half Llife 2 at 800x600. Also, an interesting note regarding the new driver model, is that if you're a fan of Omega / DNA drivers for your video card, and Kx for your Audio card, too bad. the new driver model supports only Microsoft approved drivers. I like the convenance of being able to download one unified driver pack for my video card. Unified drivers are when you download and install the latest version of the Catylist driver pack for your ATi card, and it works. Under vista's new driver cartel, unified driver packs are outlawed, and you will have to return to getting your windows drivers like it was 1998, via selecting the exact right card that you need drivers for, instead of grabbing the latest updated unified pack, and running. If anyone is interested in listening to a professional talk about Vista's 'features', you should definatelly listen to a couple of episodes of Steve Gibson's Security Now. You may not know who Steve Gibson is by name, but you definatelly know hos work in the field in security, as he was the first person to discover, and develop countermeasures to what we now refer to as "Spyware" and "Malware". And he is scared to death about Vista being released.
  24. Sailors Fighting in the dance hall. Oh man! Look at those cavemen go. It's the freakiest show. Take a look at the lawman Beating up the wrong guy. Oh man! Wonder if he'll ever know He's in the best selling show. Is there life on Mars?
