  1. Is there any special bonus options that can be set for donators? like, the person that donates the most for dec gets some sort of account upgrade / karma reset / limited mod abilities? That'd be neat if people could get some kind of special perk for donating.
  2. santa vacha. Episode 2 still isn't out? man, we have a better chance of getting the brokn back then episode 2 of imps :( Ep 1 is however retardedly well done, arguablly on par with somethng lucas arts would produce (kinda, but not really)
  3. sweet! been looking for a source of viagra for a while now. thanks for the info! and 'buy' I shall!
  4. if anyone needs any kind of image (avatar / sig) hosted with no questions asked, no cookies stored, and no nonsense, I can do it @ http://www.itsazero.com/images/upload/
  5. I havn't completely stopped, but I have slowed down, and I'm buying dvd's and games and whatever much more frequentelly. The way I make a movie purchace determination ( I think that a lot of people will say that they do the same) Step 1) go to one of those huge torrent sites. You know the kind I mean. Step 2) I don't really read any of the news services that talks about previews for games / movies. I hear about new games and movies from torrent sites, or by word of mouth immedetelly before I download them , so I'm doing a serach for movies at the torrent site. Step 3) scroll around untill something catches my eye. Could be a catchy title, something I heard from a friend, a movie from my youth that I want to see again, etc. Step 4) Download it. Step 5) Watch it. Step 6) If I liked what I saw, I'll do a google search to see what comes with theDVD it's self (books, cut scenes, alternate takes / directors commenteries) if there is a sufficent amount of extras, I'll buy it. If I can get it for a deal somewhere down the road, say a 2 for $30 special, I'll buy it. I won't buy a dvd for over $30, I'll wait for it to depreciate a bit, then buy it. However, if it's something REALLY good, and a special case (like the box set of Firefly for eg. where you genuinely want to show support for Joss Whedon) I'll buy it the day it comes out for full (read: Inflated) retail price, without downloading it first. Same applies to games. I have no problem paying $60 for a PC game, as long as I try out at least a demo first (although I'd perfer to play the full version first, beat the game, then determine what kind of replay value the game has. Red Alert 2 has an insanely high replay value, where as The Bards Tale does not.) I don't trust reading reviews from say IGN, or GamePro, as they always seem to be biast in some way. "Well, I usually play FPS games, but I gave this RTS a try...." kind of reviews. The pest person to determine if I'll like a game, is me, imo Also, as a linux user, I have to have to be concerned with compatability issues. MOST games will work with varying degrees of hacking, but there are a few that absolutely refuse to work. I don't want to blow $60 on a game only to find that it's coded in such a way that you can't click "I agree" in the TOS (Like in F.E.A.R.) You can't return games after you buy them, so I call it looking out for my best interests to Download before I buy, not piracy. Also with software. Right now I'm using a pirated full version copy of Mandriva Linux 2007.0 to test it out for a week to make sure that it's not filled with bugs like 2006.0 was (wich I bought without testing out, and feel totally ripped off). So far, it's performance has far exceeded my expectations (the only bug I've spotted is with LinDVD, wich is easily fixed by copying a file to another dir), and I want to support the company by buying the full boxed version. If you don't pay for stuff that you like, the company won't be able to make more, right? Just to go slightly off topic, Enterprise Season 3 is retailing for $115.99 at my local Future Shop. Good effing lord. Season three aired what, 4 years ago?
  6. Rule #6 was the best thing that happened during the S0V13T Administration. Well, Rule #6 being amended, Fenriswolf getting a promotion, the mass bannings, being quoted in news reports all over the internet. For two weeks, I was the digital re-encarnation of the Great Soviet Superman, Josef Stalin!
  7. For Online: Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix F.E.A.R. Combat Counter-Strike: Source Delta Force 2 For Single Player: Deus Ex: Invisible War Painkiller: Black Half-Life 2: Source (including all the Expantions / Episodes)
  8. I've been busy with: - Legal matters. I don't want to go into any details about them. - Lurking in the NiteSciFi.com forums to see what's going (not a whole lot), if there is anything I feel like chiming in on (no, not really lately), and to see if anyone has mentioned me (surprisingly enough, it dosent look like it). I did try to make one of those mod note thingies in my signature the otherday, but gave up becuase I forgot the formatting for color / size in this forum software version. - Kitchen Supervision. In RL, like in the NiteShdw forums, I busted my ass for a long time, did a lot of stuff nobody else wanted to / was incapable of, and got rewarded with a promotion. Punished would be a more fitting term, as we all know (or will eventually learn) that with all promotions, you have to work twice as hard, for twice as long, and get less money for it, becuase of the way income tax works. But hey, atleast you get to boss people around, if you're into that kind of thing so it's not a total loss. You also get to revise your resume and add some fancy titles, and $5 words to it. - Renewing my professional certifications (safe food handeling, WHIMIS, knife safety, etc) For the soul purpose of showing all the pretenders that I work with who the one true Mack Daddy is. - Gaming on my Linux system, and laughing at all the suckers that have to boot into windows to game. The real secret, ladies and gentelmen, is using a linux distro. that boasts about multi media support (Mandriva, Ubuntu, and PClinuxOS for example), cedgea and the best Nvidia card you can afford. ATi sucks majorly at writing drivers, and the open source ones seem to be largely guess work. Yes, I do plan on fixing whatever the hell is wrong with the CS:S server some time (Most likely a complete reinstall, becuase there is a LOT of different config files, that I don't wanna comb through to see what happened) , if anybody has ANY console experience with Linux and wants to take over, let me know. I would like to play with everyone again too.
  9. auck uses characters and plot lines from the classic TV show "Star Trek" to teach Biology 101 to non-science majors at Brenau University. After all, this is a group that probably cares as much about science as Capt. Kirk does an attack from an enemy vessel. Many are just passing through, getting their science requirement before they graduate and boldly go to other careers. Still, Bauck would like students to do well in her class, and even come away with a greater interest in science. "If a student sees an instructor is enthusiastic about the topic, hopefully some of that will rub off," she said. Bauck said she had been thinking of ways to better connect with students when she decided on "Star Trek." The show's scientific and medical references are huge and often relevant today, hitting on such topics as DNA and genetic engineering. "Also, (the show) is a bit of an icon," she said. "Everybody knows who Captain Kirk is." Bauck wants one thing known about herself. "I'm not a 'Trekkie.' I have never been to a convention," she said. But to pull off her teaching device, she immersed herself in "Star Trek" literature and Internet sites. She bought videotapes off the online marketplace eBay. Each of her lectures features a clip from the TV show, which ran for three years in the late 1960s, was revived through movies a decade later, and then spun off several TV series. "If (the students) are sleeping, they wake up and are good for the rest of the lecture," Bauck said. She ties the clip into the lesson of the day, with such topics as "Did Vulcans Really Descend from Romulans?" (an introduction to evolution), "What to Do When the Tricorder Fails" (scientific investigations) and "The Molecular Transporter -- Is it Really Safe?" (macromolecules). Bauck offered a special treat to her class on Oct. 30, the day before Halloween. Her class syllabus announces: "Come to class as the alien biological entity of your choice. Prizes for best pseudopods, membranes and spicules." She sees a special benefit of her instruction before students of Brenau Women's College. Star Trek shows "women in science and in leadership roles," Bauck said. "Women can succeed in science and biology." Rochelle Rackley, like many students in her class, would like to live long and prosper in a field other than science, but she admits that Bauck has kept their attention. "It has helped me gain an interest in science," said Rackley, a business management major. Special education major Jessica Hensley said, "Dr. Bauck is good. She has shown a ("Star Trek") clip on any science lesson you can do." Classes don't always go as smoothly as Bauck would like, however. She said that in those moments, she wishes she could be like one of the "Star Trek" characters longing for home when they say "Beam me up, Scotty." Article
  10. I'm an opera user as well, and I'm having the same issue that Mr. Fox is having. Aside that, I gotta say that you did a really great job on this there, Nightmare! Tight layout, and some very creative orignal coding, I'm quite impressed. Would you mind if I was download your project, make some heavy edits to it, and use it on one of my sites (you'd get the credit, naturally)? I just don't have the time to code something up myself (that and I'm naturally lazy).
  11. I may have missed it, but I'm not seeing any info about prizes / a compelling reason to participate.
  12. Just thinking about NiteShdw's open offer to all members to host their websites / domains on his server, some for free, some for a small fee, and how many of us have actually taken the plunge to help ourselves to a killer deal, and to help out a friend all at the same time. I moved over 2 of my domains to Nitescifi.com, and I'm very happy with the service, and everything involved with the transaction. So how about you guys? What's stopping you from making your own website / moving over your existing site to Nite's server?
  13. I'm really into this show as well. When the mrs. was describing it to me, I was expecting an X Men rip off, something like "Mutant X". Needless to say, we were plesantly surprised to see this show was innovative, and creative. On par with BSG imo. So with that said, finaly one of the big networks (NBC) are airing a sci-fi / fantasy show, that dosent seem to suck, and people like us are enjoying. I have a funny feeling that they will cancel the series around episode 7, becuase thats what the big networks always seem to do with good shows.
  14. Yeah, I wanted to get in on the game and show all you pretenders who the true mack-daddy is, as always. But I just got out of jail, and have a load of r/l shit to tend to before I can even go near a comp again. So whoever the current princes of the universe are now, may continue to pwn, untill I come back and take my throne back.

    Dead

Just incase anyone was wondering (wich is doubtful) I still read the site 4 - 5 times a day. Havn't seen anything worth chiming in lately. By "lately", I mean "for almost the entire summer". Then again, I havn't had the time to even do things that I like doing that involves the net that much, like IRC or Ventrillo :(
  16. ya, basiclly all nite would have to do is set up a few new tables (I imagine the games installer can do that) and set up anew subdomain, like traders1.nitescifi.com and traders2.nitescifi.com or whatever. As for my recent in-game death, I intentionaly attacked one of nites non- alliance planets twice, for the soul reason of killing myself, as he is the only player in tha game that has the ability to destroy me . I figure that that game is getting reset tomorrow anyways, might as well give the other players a fair chance of stumbeling on my vast fortune and inhereting it. That, and I KNOW that it must have made a LOT of players cry tears of sheer joy to see that I got desteoyed when they logged in the day after :) So I feel good about making someones day :)
  17. Yeah, I also like the idea of having a seperate game for the noobs. I'd rather conquor planets where there had been a fair defence in place, then wontonly dominating all planets that I see. Seriously, in all fairness it really would be more fair to all players (noobs and pros alike) if there were 2 games, one for learning the game, practice, and developing your technique, and another for graduated players to engauge in some serious competition. The veteran players simply don't have time to teach the new players the ins and outs of the game. They have an Empire to build, defend and maintain afterall. Let the more experenced players focus on maintaining their Alliances / personal empires, not teaching ametures. As far as the game rules go, I think we should keep it as it was during the duration of last game. Yes, I do build a lot of planets, and only trade as much as I have to - my style of playing would put me at a tremendous advantage over those that only build a couple of planets - I'd rather play a balanced game, where everyone has a fair shot of comming out ontop, as opposed to anyone that has around 200 planets and dosen't log in for a few weeks automatically has a place in the top 5, due to interest.

    Internet Video fun

Here's some video's that Fenris and I made last wintertime. http://www.itsazero.com/video/ If you like Doctor Who, you'll love these.
  19. You know, I'm not really one to give pointers to others, but I'm finding it very surprising that there has been no attempt to band together, and attempt any kind of counter attack, or resistance. It seems that NiteShdw and myself have won yet again, if people are already calling for a reset. What remaining (i.e. living) players should be doing is banding together to fight a common enemy (ie Nite and myself) intead of splintering off and forming new 1 -5 man alliances, that make communications, intellegence gatrhering, and resource sharing that much more difficult. If you all banded together, you could take Nite and mysef out with ease. Another free piece of advice, one of the players still alive found the sector where I keep all my credits. 170 trillion credits (at the time) could have been quite the plunder Some how they managed to scan ALL the planets in that sector that all had modest defences, EXCEPT my main bank. I couldn't believe my eyes when I read and re-read my logs.
  20. Pure Geek 34 % Nerd, 73% Geek, 34% Dork For The Record: A Nerd is someone who is passionate about learning/being smart/academia. A Geek is someone who is passionate about some particular area or subject, often an obscure or difficult one. A Dork is someone who has difficulty with common social expectations/interactions. You scored better than half in Geek, earning you the title of: Pure Geek. It's not that you're a school junkie, like the nerd, and you don't really stand out in a crowd, like the dork, you just have some interests that aren't quite mainstream. Perhaps it's anime, perhaps it's computers, perhaps it's bottlecaps, perhaps it's all of those and more. Your interests take you to events and gatherings that are filled with people you find unusual and beyond-the-pale, but you don't quite consider yourself "of that crowd." Instead, you consider yourself to be fairly normal. Which, you are. Congratulations! You're the one on the RIGHT! Also, you might want to check out some of my other tests if you're interested in any of the following: Buffy the Vampire Slayer Professional Wrestling Love & Sexuality America/Politics Thanks Again! -- THE NERD? GEEK? OR DORK? TEST My test tracked 3 variables How you compared to other people your age and gender: You scored higher than 99% on nerdiness You scored higher than 99% on geekosity You scored higher than 99% on dork points Okay, first of all the reason I posted the whole thing is becuase of that picture. Now if I'm so hip to go to conventions with other wierdos, wouldn't that mean that i'd be the storm trooper, not the pretty girl? Also, I feel pretty good about owning 99% of all 26 year old guys in all categories :) Just like in real life :)
  21. I'll throw in a paid one year .com domain name into the raffle, and domain administraton services. I'll also offer "a day off" worth of backend website development / maintnance / support / how to assistance / general work for those that choose to join the ranks of being hosted by NiteScifi.com. Just remember, I'm a coder / admin, not an artist.
  22. Just for the record, I'm 100% responsible for your death. I happened to catch you and mupi in the act of attacking one of my planets, and felt it necessery to defend them. NiteShdw and I will do what we can to fill the afterlife up with friends new and old for you :) Since you said that you have some free time, what do you think about getting a new game rocking? BNT is kinda getting a little dull (IMO). Got any ideas for a new webbased (or linux compatable 'proper', like Wolfenstine ET, Counter Strike Sourse, etc) game?
  23. Now that the off-season at work is comming very soon for me, I have time to revamp, and maintain the NiteShdw Counter-Strike: Source server once again, and this vid reminded me of that. As far as commenting on the vid goes... er... I'm not sure what you are trying to do with it. Are you trying to show off how badly you suck at the game, or is there another meaning that I'm not getting? Are you trying to get some tips on why you keep getting owned? Are you trying to rekindle interesst in the CS:S server? Admin note: Thread unlocked, as there was no real reason to lock it. I don't recall there being a dedicated section for user made gaming videos in existance. Also, the thread has been moved to the gaming area.
  24. I just spotted this thread now, gonna give it a whirl and see how it is. Love to make a server for it, but I'm not seeing any linux dedicated server software on the official site. http://www.joinfear.com
  25. haha my score right now is 3,113,337. Wich looks like ELLEEET. I'm so leet at this game, they call me "Senior El Leet"
