Cult and/or Corporation. While some of their basic "ideals" are similar to other religions it always seems to boil down to the all mighty dollar (or insert your own currency here) for them. I love how it's ok for scientology followers to dismiss or talk negative about other religions but if you say such things about scientology it's almost a capitial offense ;o

Scientology is not a religion' date=' it is science of the mind. Ask any Scientologist.[/quote']

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientology

Scientology is a religious movement based on a system of beliefs' date=' teachings, practices, and rituals that originated as philosophy in 1952 by author L. Ron Hubbard, and characterized by the Church of Scientology in 1953 as an "applied religious philosophy". Hubbard defined the word "Scientology" to mean "a study of knowledge".[/quote']

yeah, wikipedia says realigious movement, but they dont worship anything (exept to some extend L. Ron Hubbard himself maybe?) - so its philosophy really.

for anything else, ask Xenu - galactic ruler (of the "Galactic Confederacy") who, 75 million years ago, brought billions of people to Earth, stacked them around volcanoes and blew them up with hydrogen bombs.

Wikipedia's actually cleaning itself up lately. It now requires cited sources and strict NPOV, and pages that don't have valid sources / cited material are marked as such and often terminated.

Still wouldn't use it as a source for a paper due to it's history and the fact that it isn't totally cleaned up, but it's a great place for leads.

I don't see any reason to mistrust it's article on scientology. It seems to be a fairly accurate summary of the religion and it's history.

Some ppl thinks that belonging to an elitist organisation/movement makes them extra special...

If you as me I'd say that ppl who "belives" that are those being fooled by the true extra special person. :cyclops:

On the other hand they are quite entertaining from a certain point of view...
