  1. Stargate Atlantis 3x01 "No Man's Land"
  2. Well, it may or may not be pre rendered, but the source I got them from said they were ingame screens.
  3. 10x01 "Flesh and Blood"
  4. From: http://www.igda.org/sf/ That looks pretty sweet. Kinda NX-01 ish Not quite sure which Class of ship it is, have to research that.
  5. Afaik from ep 13, alt-Torchwood was formed just like normal-Torchwood except as Pete says the general public of the world found out what they really do and over threw them, thus putting in a more stable Torchwood that didn't hide stuff from the people of Earth and such. Then again ya never know
  6. The Q Continum (if you count the "Q" as a species) They control the powers of the cosmos at a finger tip. Virtually unlimited abilities, the only thing that keeps them in check is each other. While arrogant and snobbish at times, they know their place in the universe and don't go around massively killing species. They could take down any other race that challenges them most likely.
  7. ive been reading memory alpha for an hour or so (looking up random stuff) havent seen any hacker messages and the example you listed appears fine, i figure they fixed it
  8. I got to wondering if any information was compiled about Guinan's race, El-Aurians. So I looked them up in the ST Wiki and this passage came up; Now I'm sure of the canon since in Generations, we never know where the refugees were coming from (nor do I remember if they mentioned all the refugees being El-Aurians). Needless to say let's assume this information is right. So out of all those refugees, Guinan included, they never once mentioned to Starfleet who attacked them? Guinan never thought to warn Picard? All those lives they could save, so many people died in the battle of Wolf 359 not to mention all the others... It was what, 75 years later that Picard and crew began their mission on the Enterprise-D after the "death" of Kirk on the Enteprise-B, and then another two years (season 2 of TNG) that we first encountered the Borg (not counting the time paradox in Enterprise). Point being, plenty of time to be warned.
  9. I'm waiting for the full set of Season 2 with all twenty episodes. I bought Season 1 this way (which also included the miniseries). $50 for 10 episodes, x2? That's $100 for 20 episodes, Star Trek is cheaper on dvd (the old price of like $100+ for 26 episodes, these days it's down to like $50)
  10. Yep this Friday 8pm EST is the season premiere of Stargat SG-1 followed by the season premiere of Stargate Atlantis at 9pm EST. Sadly we'll have to wait till October to get more BSG but oh well. Can't wait for both Gates' ;) Oh how I've missed thee
  11. Best, episode, ever. Loved it. Normally I hate romance angles, I mean I just don't often find them being in place for a science fiction show. (stuff like Buffy/Angel cause they aren't really science fiction). But I enjoyed it in this one. The Pete/Jackie reunion was classic. I knew the Doctor would fade away before he could say "i love you", writers had it set from S27 to not let the Doc say it ever. Nice touch. And my boy Mickey was back kicking some ass. Notice how his confidence went way up from the end of S27 slash beginning of S28? He's not the tin dog anymore. Loved the Black Dalek's "emergency time shift", always leaving room for more great Dalek stuff in the future. I'm impressed with R.T.D on that one, few writers think to write themselves more openings in the future. Only disappointment? Rose didn't "die". I read the spoilers weeks ago, we knew she wasn't coming back for S29 but declared dead in her normal reality because she's missing WHILE she's alive in a parallel reality? *ugh* Not that I wanted to see her dead, I like her as the companion I had finally grown use to her by the start of this season. Just with all the "hype" and spoilers and the entire monologue at the start of both parts of the season finale "this is how I died yadda yadda yadda" it was expected that you know, she actually die. One "slight" disappointment but more so an interesting thing to learn, Cybermen are by far inferior to Daleks. They are slower, they can't fly or hover and their weapons cannot penetrate a personal Dalek shield. Whereas a Dalek can do all those above and kill a Cyberman with one shot of it's laser/phaser/cannon (what is it called really? i keep wanting to say phaser..). I mean the Black Dalek was right, it was just pest control. A simple round up and extermination. They didn't need millions of Daleks to kill millions of Cybermen, the Black Dalek and his 3 henchmen (or henchDaleks) could have killed them all. None the less, awesome episode. Loved it all. Though I can tell right now the new companion is going to suck. She's not the same character, and whenever you have a recognizable face that's not the same character it's just bad writing. With "the breach" closed, it probably won't be her double from the Pete's World, so if anything they'll have to say it's her twin sister or something...Cheesey but better than just the same actress completely different character crap that gets done in alot of other shows. (I have faith in you R.T.D don't let us down on this!)
  12. That had to be one of the best Who episodes. Fantastic! Now the real question I wonder is will the Cybermen and Daleks team up? Will they fight some awesome huge battle iwith the humans + Doctor caught in the middle? How does Rose die? Oh and Mickey being back, instant gratification. I still think he's the best character aside from the Doctor. Average guy, loses his girlfriend to the Doctor, not super smart or atheletic but loyal, brave and will fight to the bitter end. Great character. Exterminate!
  13. Decent episode. I liked the whole alien taking over a human thing, been done but still cool. Only thing I didn't care for was the over obvious constant referencing to her drunken abusive father. Granted it is a real life issue that quite a few people face, it's just not something I want to see in science fiction. Kinda like the episodes of Star Trek The Next Generation where Troi is "raped" mentally by another telepath. Sadly I must say the best part of the episode? The preview for next week's beginning of the season finale. Love how they throw the obvious Rose "comments" in there ;\
  14. ok so who gets to beat him X amount of times ;p
  15. Found (one of) the articles I was thinking of From: http://www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice/pressreleases/stories/2005/06_june/16/who_series3.shtml So I may have misread it some originally. This was pretty much the basic "news" that circulated last summer around the time Season 27 ended and people were eager for the Christmas Special. Though if I DO read the article right, Billie Piper is in through the end of Season 28 and that seasons Christmas Special. So maybe she won't die after all but just be seperated from the Doctor? Who knows
  16. Didn't I read somewhere that Tennant and Piper had signed on for a season 3? Maybe I'm mistaken, I'll have to hunt up the article I'm thinking of. Honestly, she was the T&A companion. Good actress, I agree. But compared to the other female companions, they went with a more modern choice. Young (she's what, 19?), blonde, skinny and curvey in all the right places (not that I mind *ahem* ) but you get the point. I do think they at least did it in good taste, they could have just pimped her out in a bikini every other episode trying to pull a Brannon & Braga on us. anyone else think the nex companion should be a guy? i don't mind the female ones it's just the whole love-interest stuff is kinda..cheesey sometimes. Not alot, just sometimes it seems a little soap-opera.
  17. That was, a strange episode. It was both brilliantly written and quite, off the mark for a typical Who episode (judging based on s27 and s28 so far). The poor guy loses everything and it's all revolved around the Doc. Collateral Damage, so to speak. You'd think in the end, after not having saved his mother, after having decided to not go through the whole "step 5" *ahem* with Jackie, the poor guy would get the woman he loves back completely. Not just a stone slab with a face. And while I did chuckle at the obvious oral sex implications, it was also a cheesey remark. I kind of see how it's easy to identify with the guy. Regular joe working through life, no long term goals or ambitions. And you learn about something secret and obscure and begin an interest in it. Then you learn others share that and become quick friends with them and even fall in love with one. Very well written but I gotta say, the writters really like taking a dump on the characters who aren't the Doctor or Rose. Jack gets stuck on the station (which we know he'll be in Torchwood), Mickey gets left behind, this poor guy almost gets killed while losing all his friends and is left with just face-stone slab of the girl he loves... It was almost surreal. Don't get me wrong, I like a dark motif story like anyone else, I mean damn I was a Farscape/B5/Whedon fan, the good guys always take it the hardest. Just never thought you'd get that vivid punch to the gut implications onto others. When you think about it, how many other thousands of people has the Doctor set on a similar course then events similar to this? Not the whole "lets find the Doctor" thing but the whole land in a certain time to stop a certain alien/monster, which then later has ramifications on the people related/involved. Much better than the whole Satan-on-an-Asteroid story.
  18. A couple of months ago, the MMORPG Shadowbane, became free to play online. It's creators reformed their company and are planning another MMORPG loosely based on SB if not pretty similar. I know we here in the Nite community are far more geared towards science fiction. Lord knows I am. But at the same time, I'm also one poor mofo who can't really afford MMO's ingeneral, so free is free. To the point, Shadowbane isn't science fiction but hey, it's free. It's your typical fantasy game, but it's one of the few MMORPGs where you can control land and resources on the world map, making your endgame goal world-domination. There's tons of races, classes and professions to choose from. Anyone from the UO days will love it cause you can build your own cities, cloak yourself while you steal from people, you name it. It however is not a game for the, light hearted. It is what you call "open pvp". So the minute you set foot off the newbie area, you are open game to the entire server. It's kill or be killed. There are safe cities and zones but they are scarce compared to the massive world map. Adds to the fun of the game, PvP (player versus player) is the real endgame content of any MMORPG. Now I'll be honest, I half posted this for non selfesh reasons. I want people to try a free fun game that isn't that old (slightly over three years). But, my nation I am in (nation's are made up of several guilds, basically one large alliance) recently underwent some changes and we are recruiting. Well anyone that's played some serious pvp in an MMORPG knows you don't do open recruiting. In that fashion you just get random idiots you can't follow orders in a fight, often get you killed when leveling or waste money & items. So why ask here? Cause I think for the most part, science fiction geeks (or fans if you dislike the connotation of the word geek) here in Nite's community are much more level headed and I know for a fact a good handful of people are gamers. And since most of us are *ahem* pirates in past lives, a free game legally looks even better. So if you're interested in a free MMORPG head over to http://www.shadowbane.com You can download the client ( roughly 800 MB ) free, and signup a free account. *Notes* If you're interested in joining the guild for serious pvp, a few things to keep in mind - We use the latest version of Teamspeak 2 (less quality than Ventrilo yes but more compatiblity for multiple users) **Special note, speaking of how the game isn't for the light hearted, neither is Teamspeak. We recommend a Headset not Speakers, it is a Rated R channel so you will often hear profanity. We don't require you to have or use a microphone but you can still listen in on Teamspeak and if you can talk with it, even better. - Most of us are American/Canada but totally welcome over nationalities. Only mention this because well, we mixed hours. Half of us operate on Eastern Standard Time and a few on Pacific Standard Time, and most of if not alot of us are "late night gamers" so we're usually still kickin around when the sun comes up (not a require ment just letting you know). - We will totally help anyone learn the game if needed complete with power leveling and gear. Yes this game is power level friendly, the designers made it so you spend just enough time fighting mobs that you put in some time on a character that's about it. They do not frown at all on power leveling or such things (though we don't eBay gold/items). The point of Shadowbane is PvP which you'd never get too if you spend all your time treadmilling mobs like in World of Warcraft. Leave replies here, I will check back regularly for those interested.
  19. This episode gets a 0 out of 10 for me They got rid of Mickey, my favorite character next to the Doctor himself. The poor guy, he's smart as a whip, not nearly as stupid as the Doctor makes him out to be and this is the "send off" he gets? Rose can't snatch up her alternate universe father but Mickey can replace "himself" for his grandmother? I call B.S. And for the real haters, this episode wasn't written by RTD nor do I dislike him, I just really hated this episode.
  20. Great episode. I must say I like the newer version of Cybermen. They don't look like they're made of tin foil anymore ;p Is this weeks 5/20/06 episode new? I only ask cause I didn't catch the "preview" from last week's episode which is almost always there...I don't know the schedule for a season in the Uk, I'm not sure if it's a clean 13 eps through or if there are perodic stops/reruns through the season. Either way can't wait for part 2, and i'm loving seeing Mickey get the spotlight somewhat. thought he was a goof most of early season 1 then he started to grow on me. i'd almost rather see him as the Doc's companion than Rose.

    WHAT IF....

Then i probably never would have watched Star Trek at all... TOS is garbage aswell, so they could throw that away too. You just take it too serious... Voyager had it's moments but really...you end up with crap like the episode "Threshold" and you see why B&B don't need to be helming Star Trek series. Enterprise was just a smorgousboard of screwups...Continuity issues, poor writing, hell they didn't wait till the latter seasons to throw in the obligatory woman for the T&A factor, she was included from Episode 1... And yes, I take my Trek "seriously". I'm a Trekkie. No other show compares, no other show lives up to the universe, the lore, the characters and the cannon Trek offers. You'll find many people agree.
  23. I know only a few people have placed themselves, but damn I was hoping for at least more than 1 North American ;o
  24. Well, I've never been one for "revamping" things, look at the Star Wars prequels or Enterprise..Older ships looking brand new ;o (time period relative yes..but still). Either way I like the "old" K9, looks like he'll fall apart at any moment and strong as an ox ;p New one isn't "bad", just not my taste. Could be worse though.
