    Star trek idea

Two words: Beta Quadrant Seriously, look at the series so far; TOS - short lived, traditional "exploration" with a little alien conflict thrown in. TNG - traditional "exploration", tad more confrontation with hostile species (Borg, Romulans etc) DS9 - little exploration but an over all 7 year story arc that culminated in a war of the entire Alpha Quadrant and had us getting a foothold in the Gamma Quadrant Voyager - mixture of "exploration" with "crap, we're lost", in the Delta Quadrant. Enterprise, exploration with a mini story arc and overall prequelness. So what should a 6th series be? The Beta Quadrant. We already know the Borg have transwarp conduits and Cubes there, so boom there's our seasonal encounters with the Borg. AFAIK, Starfleet has barely explored it, far less than we've explored the Gamma Quadrant. Technobabble wise, since we have the Midas Array now, quadrant-to-quadrant communication with Starfleet is possible. And I'm sure in the years since Voyager ended, Starfleet has tinkered with newer forms of travel such as Slipstream or Trans Warp thanks to all the experience, logs and data collected by Voyager. So right there you have an open door to "how" they get there and "if" they can communicate back home. Mix up the bridge crew some. Toss in another alien. Not saying remove all the Humans but give us an Andorian security officer, a Vulcan pilot, hell throw in another Ferengi ;o (I'm sure after Nog's venture into S.F. and the fact that S.F. saved the entire Alpha Quadrant that more Ferengi would be open to joining).
  3. Yes, and I pointed that out, the first "offer". A suicidal Q was really not that much of a bother considering what "Q" (John D. Lance) has done for like 8 years on TNG/DS9. Sure the "war" later broke out in the continuum but even Q says something like that, might have happened eventually anyway. Please, proof that? Myself and Tenebrae have both quoted her on this, as said somewhat loosely but she herself says that to at least one of Q's several offers to get them home. Hypocritical once you see "Endgame" I never said she had to ber perfect nor like Picard. And if it's any relevance since you seem to think it is, Picard and Sisko were both great captains in my opinion but neither perfect (and neither was Kirk or Archer). The "mating" involved touching some fingers here. We'll assume it would have been the same for a Q/Human as it was for Q/Q. Wow, so Janeway has to help Q father a son, so she can save countless lives over the course of the next 30 some odd years (not taking into account "Endgame" which was pretty far in the future at that point of the show) seems like a hell of a bargin. Obviously it didn't work. Trust me my knack for detail can work at times. (notice the same prop used for the transporter in that episode is used as a prop held by Wesley Crusher in TNG s2?). Regardless, it was a piece of technology they got without taking any lives or frakking up any timelines, that could have worked. Sure it didn't work but ya never know till you try. Hell, Janeway authorized the use of the transwarp at one point, they knocked what, 10 years off their journey before it broke down? (don't go starting an argument about stealing from the Borg is ok) All she had to do was ask. After opening Q's eyes to Quinn's problems, helping him mate with Female Q, saving the entire Continuum from civil frakking war, yea I'm pretty damn sure Q wouldn't mind snapping his fingers and saving them 40 years of travel (again, pre "Endgame").

SciFi has been, kinda going downhill for a while. They keep the name "SciFi" which should mean, science fiction. Yet each year they show more fantasy stuff like Earthsea and more cheesy horror like Masticore. At least their cheesey scifi like Mansquito are science fiction in their roots. That and I wish they played more of their mini series stuff more often. Both Dune mini series, Taken, The Triangle, The Beast, etc

    Star trek idea

They let fans submit ideas already. Star Trek is actually one of the few franchises that actually accepts submitted works and ideas. Obviously it's at their judgement to use them and if they do you can bet they have their team of writers to smooth it out and polish it up but yea for all 5 series they kept an open submission policy going. Not sure if it's still in effect since, there's no current series in production other than the upcoming 11th movie. They need fresh blood for writers imho. Toss Brannon and Braga out, bring back guys like Pillar and Moore (if he gets time from BSG ;p ) let Coto get a few more runs at helming a season, I mean crap look at what he did for Enterprise season 4 that was some great stuff. Less "Threshold" and "Spock's Brain", more "Tapestry" and "In The Pale Moonlight".
  6. Pretty sure they just used current-day Shatner and digitally inserted him into the scene. Cause the other actors look a little younger than they do these days, imho..
  7. In the resistance's view, the suicide bombings are a must. They know what Cylon occupation means, they've seen and know what the Cylons are capable of. Personally I think it would be better to die instantly with no pain rather than be beaten and tortured like say, Colonel Tigh was, for weeks at a time. They have virtually no weapons, nothing to really defend themselves with and their going up aganist an enemy that is a great deal faster, greal deal stronger, etc Now neither side is definitively smarter than the other, other wise the Cylons would be infalable or the humans would have wiped them all out by now but in an occupation senario the humans are cattle to the slaughter basically.
  8. Frakking awesome episode, well worth the wait. It started out kinda "eww", here's Helen giving it up to a Skinjob so she can get Tigh out of jail...slipperly slope that is, dedication to her husband but at what lengths.. Nice to see Kara still kicking dude's ass (got I suck at remembering the Model's "names" other than the numbers) Caprica Six and Baltar back together ;) nice, almost brought a tear to me eye. I was fucking pissed when dude shot her in the head...Sure she'll come back but man.. AND the fact Baltar didn't want to order the deaths of 200 people even with a gun to his head, great stuff. love Baltar. Apollo got fat. I expected his character to take the stance of "not going back" but man, in a year he got fat. I know they operate of jehrens as their terms of years and humans in the BSG universe age alot more gracefully (living past 100-110 is common), but man he looks like he aged ten years and added 50 pounds. Adama's still the old man, nice to see him still pittering about Galactica's CIC. Dee is still there :( Booo. And married to Apollo, double Boooo. Slut shoulda died by now (sorry but the way she handled Billy was just frakked up. Guy loved her and all she wanted was to jump on Apollo). Sharon being inducted as an officier and pilot, nice. Was good to see Helo back in uniform too. Still can't imagine Chief and Cally getting together. Even though we saw them in 2x20 last season it just don't fit right. Can't wait for 3x03.
  9. For fans of Weird Al, one of his newest music video's http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=4581508829597815922&q=White+and+Nerdy
  10. http://www.startrek.com/startrek/view/features/specials/article/3134.html Captain Sisko, one of the best ;)
  11. Oh I saw S27 and S28 when they came out ;p Thanks to the internet. I mean we had to wait a full year to get S27 and that was a huge "if" in assuming we would. Though I must say I was impressed to see us get S28 so quickly after they had aired S27 just a few months prior. PLUS they included the 05' Christmas Invasion before 28x01 ;)
  12. For us yanks we get our taste of S28 early this year, not having to wait a full year like we did for S27 ;p S28 premieres on American tv this Friday, September 29th on the SciFi channel. I think we get either 2 or 3 episodes, starting with the 2005 Christmas Special and at least 28x1. Fantastic!
  13. Technically they are committing faulty advertising. They advertise the new "season" as it starts in July, then they say it's the "season finale" for the "mid season" break that we all come to love. The kicker is, it could be a season finale, but not only do they pick up the next ten episodes in the winter/spring (which are not advertised as a new season) but when the dvd's come out they contain all twenty episodes of the "season" despite it having two "finales" which would normally indicate two different seasons...
  14. Um, no one noticed the inhereant flaw at the end of the episode? Ok so Ancient-Replicators "attacked" Atlantis, took over most of the city and might have possibly killed O'Neill and Woolsey. Shephard and gang round up some weapons to fight Replicators, hijack a Puddle Jumper and make way for Atlantis overriding the Gate shield. Now in that last scene before it cuts to black, we see a clear moment of the Gate room with either Ancients or Ancient-Replicator's. But the key thing is, the Gate room looks totally undamaged, as if no battle had taken place. Watch the video again of O'Niell's distress call, it looks like the whole place is coming down. So what gives? If it's the Ancients, who sent the distress call and why? If it's the Ancient-Replicators did they send it? Or did they just happen to take over? I say something is up. I mean, there are other clues in the episode. First of all Laundry is completely aganist even the idea of a rescue plan by Shephard? Come on, normal Laundry would at least hear him out and pass it on up to his superiors. And what about the entire A.R.G thing? Anyone else take notice that the new Replicator weapons titled "Anti-Replicator Guns" is also an acroynym for "Alternate Reality Game"? Which in the last couple years has also become a term to explain such things as alternate endings, viral marketing, etc? This could play into the fact that Sheppard and the SGC were fooled in some manner and it was a clue to the audience. Then again, maybe it's just me but something about that ending just felt fishy....
  15. Pretty good episode. I did think it was a tad rushed. Didn't see the Orisi thing coming, plot twists are always a nice surprise. Though the Guardian is a toss up. On one hand, ok cool a pretty nice CGI dragon. On the other hand, it's alot smaller than I expected a dragon to be in the SG-1 universe and two Baal just happens to know the name of it without explaining how he managed to get ahold of it? Either Baal is holding out on them or thats just a small note of weak writing. And the whole thing between the Orisi and Daniel was stupid. He acted shocked he couldn't pick up the Sangraal, it was a hologram. They knew they'd have to face the Guardian before gaining access to the Sangraal why be all shocked when it's a hologram? They knew what was coming... Overall, great episode with a few plotholes, on par with usual.
  16. Life would be equally amusing if it were dominated by the Q Continuum. Slavery and being use for their personal amusement for everyone ;o
  17. The only one that kind of points bigotry at Starfleet/Federation is the Data example. And that's simply cause to stop from being disassembled and studied Data had to resign his commission and go through a trial to prove he's a living being. The Doctor from Voyager was different. He had a similar small trial thing based apon his write as an author because he was a hologram and not a biological person. People forget, the Federation didn't deny him those rights and they didn't say he didn't have him. The Doctor's holographic publisher, who was a Bolian (whom probably wasn't a member of Starfleet/Fed) was the guy who pulled the hoodwink idea of "the Doctor has no rights since he is not a person". The Federation just acted as a mediator and go between since no laws had been done on the subject and the fact that the Doctor is a member of Starfleet (complete with rank and everything). Bashir's issue is more of a leftover past from the Eugenics Wars. Sure after all this time we as humans, should be more open minded. But also, for every Bashir that was created through genetic manipulation, they also created a hundred Khan's. The bad definitely outweighs the good when it comes to illegal genetic manipulation. Now, if the Federation had come to terms with such ideals and made it legal in some instances based on usage and how it's done, then yes it would be bigotry on Bashirs part. Hell even Bashir himself said one of the reasons it was illegal was "if it was legal then other parents would feel pressured to have it done to their children just so they could keep up". Let's not forget that despite how far in the future all Trek timelines are, the majority of Starfleet are humans. And while Roddenbury did try to paint a rose colored picture of the future in TOS, humans still have flaws in the 24th century. No race will ever be 100% perfect. Sure we eliminated war, poverty, most diseases and such on Earth but it's a huge galaxy that we travel. Such things will be enountered and we made a part of. Even the gung ho fire-phasers-first-ask-questions-later Kirk tried to achieve goals of peace and morality in the galaxy. It just doesn't always work out that way.
  18. Can anyone view this version of the Preview anymore? For the last week or so I've been trying to watch that version again on YouTube and it just will not load. lax-v41.lax.youtube (the url it loads when trying to load) just seems to always timeout. I've asked around IRC and like half the people can view it the other half can't. It just seems to stay like that, has been for almost a week now.
  19. Watch and be amazed. I was kinda shocked to see it's the most viewed video on YT and I've never seen it till this morning. Great frakking video I must say. Dude is pretty talented or at least he's got balls to get up and do all that without caring what people think. Brought back a ton of memories of my childhood, back when CD's first came out stuff like MC Hammer, Vanilla Ice and Kriss Kross were the hottest things around.
  20. Yea, I get the message I had to view Recent Posts to even be able to reply to this thread.
  21. They'd never do it. Anything longer than a few minutes and a tv network even such as SciFi would feel the need to include a commerical or ad to help pay for costs and that just leads to the issues of doing so for something as short as 5 minutes. We'd all love a series of 10 minute shorts instead of these 2 or 3 minute one's but if you add up all the "websisodes" and they were 10 minutes a pop, you'd end up with a full episode or more of content which you know is never free (unless some heavy restrictions like DRM are applied). Webisode 2 was a huge letdown. It had a running time of what, 2 minutes?.... I was hoping for at least 4 give or take. I don't mind the low resolution and quality but all that for 2 minutes of content....By the time you've loaded it and watched it in your browser it hardly feels like it was worth the time invested in the first place. Think I'll pass on these until they are all done and released. It's hard to get excited about the new ones when their going to be so short content wise. Obviously they'd do better to lump them all into one big Webisode but since they decided to wait until frakking October for the new season, they know they need to sprinkle new content out to the fans between now and then...
  22. Some are nice, some I didn't care for. The Centurian one and Tyrol one are pretty kick ass. Any chance of some Starbuck or Baltar stuff in Volume III?
  23. I thought they might be kinda dumb, ya know like just 30 second quickies. I watched the first one and liked it, 4 minutes long give or take, actually had some relevance to the story, etc New episode today ;)
