True. Also if your CPU fan isnt efficient and the CPU is running hotter than usual it may damage the CPU and cause your machine to lock up and crash frequently. The machine I am talking about now has two fans directed at the CPU. There should be no problem as far as overheating is concerned. In this case I believe the board was one manufactured by Intel.......so it was probably little more hardy than most.

The new CPU I bought from eBay works fine it came with an improved heatsink and an additional fan. Still havent found a way to upgrade to 133FSB through the Bios.......my guess is, it isnt possible with this board. Although I dare not try and upgrade the bios!

I`m thinking about buying a new PC......should I hang on? What kind of system does a hardcore gamer need? I have 1200 Dollars to spend......about 600 Pounds.

Ive just noticed me local computer shop has halved the price of its high end PC's........is there a PC revolution about to happen? No the PC's arent stolen and its not a clearance sale........it just appears odd he would half the price on AMD 3400 and P3 3GHZ systems. Thanks in advance.

OK I bought a PIII 500 slot 1 from eBay (heatsink attached) to replace the one thats dead............I`ll let you know what happens when I fit it. I was trying to upgrade a PENTIUM 3 500MHZ 100FSB to a PENTIUM 3 866MHZ SLOT1 133FSB SL47S (COM711). It would appear that the way to adjust the FSB is through the bios.......one small snag.........the machine wont boot with out a CPU. As there is no repsonse from the 133FSB CPU and the the only 100FSB CPU I have is cooked looks like I will have to wait. Thanks for all your help so far. P.S. I just upgraded a socket 370............I guess a slot 1 came about as people kept on bending the pins on the chip.............so some brain said heh lets make it like a games cartridge. Shame the designer didnt think about removing the heatsink.........a plastic nut and bolt would of been better, not fins for gods sakes.

Lucky for me this was not my PC but my next door neighbours lol. Hes running an old Intel Motherboard with a PIII 500 on it ........... I tried to upgrade the CPU ..........the CPU I was using isnt compatible with the board so I refixed the old CPU just to check the CPU was the problem. You know I made that old noob error of fitting a socket 1 133FSB to a board that only accepts socket 1 100FSB. The old CPU go BOOM lol ........... because I broke the golden rule .............. I didnt attach a heatsink because I was rushing. If anyones had any experience of socket 1 PIII's you know that it can be a pain in the rear end to change the heatsink.........you have to hit the CPU with a hammer to do it. Now what I want to know is............is the entire PC scrap just because the CPU cooked? What are the chances of refitting another CPU to the board of the same spec and this machine coming back from the dead? Or is this machine better of in land fill? Thanks in advance.

The card is AGP. I`m upgrading his machine for him and I was worried that I might pop some of the components on the graphics card if I fit it. The board is about 6 years old and the graphics card six months old.......yes I know why doesnt he just buy a new machine lol Thanks for your help Nova much appreciated.

No forth Series........good.........probably because the writers are running short on clever material, a lot like someone else who posted here. Season two has been slated by the critics just read the reviews all over the net........your not in the majority if you think it was awesome. Watched it......thought the entire thing was crap.......going back indeed? Thats exactly how this show is moving......backwards.......I thought they were looking for Earth? Once the new Star Trek series is made after the new movie this show will be buried. The producers of this show need to pull out something special. the only reason why the show is so successful is because theres bugger else in the way of high budget sc-fi on the go at the moment.

Aye it only had the first 10 episodes in my box set............but the second boxed set will have an extended episode missing from the UK boxed set.

I dont think there is anyone on forum who hasnt seen this series.......it is my own personal favourite Sc-Fi series. Sadly the show was axed due to silly arguments between Fox...Morgan, Wong. Fox have said NO to a special edition box set......Fox have said NO to a region 2 release. It is a series which Fox wants to be locked away and forgotten. The only reason why the show flopped was because the TV networks who bought the show wouldnt air it at sensible times............so in a way it was swept under the carpet. Sadly we wont ever see anymroe SAAB because now we have the new Battlestar which stole the stories and ideas..........the success of the new Battlestar is what SAAB could of been. My favourite episode is Ray Butts: Hawkes: We don't want him, we want you. McQueen: This isn't a dating service!

Dang it......it sure looks like a Kirk and Spock film doesnt it........but if Shatner and Nimoy do come back I will be happy ( complete with zimmer frames)..........but if its some crappy wannabes...........then to hell with them! They could of at least waited until the originals were all dead!
