Thanks for your support guys. Some of the questions were really difficult. I was taking the test with six other people and only two got through! At present I am deciding what I was to do next........a network certification would be nice. I`m not sure I am ready for Cisco and I am not sure what benefit Network A+ would be? One think I am sure I want to do is the Vista Installation MCP.........when it comes out. Anyone got any ideas what I should do next? Thanks.

I always thought if people knew they were about to die that they would at least struggle...........its called survival instinct. Supposedly this happened onboard one of the aircraft used in 911.

I passed the OS last night. I scored 644...which wasnt a great score but was well above the 505 needed to pass. It feels nice to be an 'entry' level technician.

I believe Microsoft a number of years ago wanted rebuild the Internet in their image................it never happened.

The British Government shut down the majority of gun clubs since the Dunblane massacre and banned hand guns.......figures show that this has done nothing to curve gun crime in fact it has increased. Many guns are now brought into the UK from former communist countries that are swarming with fire arms.........they sell them at car boot sales! The Virginia Incident was indeed tragic. I can understand why people freeze in pure terror when someone is pointing a gun at them.......but upon seeing the fate of their friends why didnt anyone try and rush the one man? What I mean is if you knew you were next to be shot why not struggle, because really there is nothing to lose if your going to die anyway.

Windows Task Manager always worked well for me. (XP - Accessories - System Tools - Scheduled Tasks) Use Task Wizard to set the start and stop times, with two batch file codes. Kyran.........I agree you dont need to know all this to be an ICT Technician........you only need to know it if you want the A+ Cert :D Hope you can understand why I`m worried. 'Entry Level' is indeed an understatement. I am however all set for this exam, I have long hair, a beard, a bobble hat and a complexion not out of place in Dawn of the Dead. I am a super geek. Must go, I have another 13 Hour revision session in front of me.

40 Percent of people who take the OS exam fail. A+ is supposed to be an entry level exam for those wishing to start a career in ICT support....honest. I really need to pass because very soon Vista will enter the pool of questions and I really dont want to be revising 3.11 to Vista.....3.11 to XP is bad enough. If you dont hear from me after Thurday........I failed :D

12 wrong the second time....hardly a fair gauge since I knew what was coming. Compared to OS the Hardware exam is easy....I got 70 out of 80 in the actual exam. I was given three questions all with the same answer! Your right in that you dont need the extra minutes. You either know the answer, or you dont. In the real exam you can go back to a question if your not sure of the answer. Something you cannot do in the ProProf exam. I`m still really woriied about this exam especially since Ive never even used NT or had experience of configuring all these operating systems on a network.

Sounds totally awesome...............I love the USS Cardinal idea. They should make it........NOW, or at least a pilot episode to be shown at some sort of fan fest. I hope it continues where Voyager left off and introduces new alien species in the crew...........perhaps some of those introduced in TNG. Exploring their backgrounds would make interesting episodes. This is fantastic news. the point of this show is to give us Trekies meaning in life.........we are really bored at the moment. I`m so bored I`m even watching the new Battlestar.....can you believe that? I can imagine myself now watching the first episode...........heh look theres Quark.......some space 'scams' for him would make great episodes too.

TetsuoShima.........well if you can score like that with out any revision you should seek out your nearest testing centre and get the A+ Certification, ditch all your other jobs and perhaps start working your way up the ladder in an organisation that offers ICT support.......maybe start on first line (I know head phones are shitty) but if you could jump straight to second line then good luck to you. If you have your own transport your laughing! Its clear to me that you could make a lot of money out of your knowledge. Why waste time with part time jobs when you can go for the one uber job. Would you say you earn more than 50,000 Dollars per year in your current jobs? Anyway.............i`m going to have another go at the test. Will post back with my score.

The exams are costing me 65 British Pounds each. There are two exams for the certification Hardware and OS Fundamentals. I have already passed Hardware. Player is the Toshiba SD-360E. Winner of all sorts of consumer awards. Its even got HD. Now I've got to bin it and buy a new one.......totally useless with XVID. My friend has another player and he suffers from the same problem. Seams like everyones ditched DIVX and now XVID is the king of codecs. I know what you mean XVID has been around since Nov 2005 why the sudden switch I dont know?

USB2 Transfer Rate of 60 MB/s SATA Transfer Rate of around 150 MB/s The figures above speak for themselves. The only reason why I would use a USB stick would be to run a recovery on an OS. Sometimes that dangly thing round your neck can be handy, its also a real geek fashion accessory that I wouldnt be seen with out.

I would choose ME..........better hardware support and the most up to date drivers. It was marketed in 2000 as an enhanced media edition of 98. Although 98 and ME are only enhanced versions of 95. It features a Movie editor and DVD Movie player. Minimum systems specs for ME are: 150 MHZ Pentium 32Mb RAM 320 MB HD VGA Monitor If your a complete cheap skate and your laptop has USB buy a USB ADSL Modem.......assuming you have a connection. Its worrying that I have all the above committed to memory. P.S. My PII runs Windows 2000 although it has a considerable amount of RAM installed. I run this OS because it is more secure than any version of Windows 9X.

Ive found that lots of these portable AVI players and DVD players are now redundant I wouldnt waste any cash on them because of the rapid rate in which the AVI format is evolving. For Christmas I bought myself a DVD player that could play any video format (at that time)....sadly it doesnt cater for XVID........what a shame since EVERYONE is now using that codec. When I say cater I mean that the sound is always out of sync.

I had never heard of those pens until I read this thread...........I always used to drill the PCB and solder a wire to repair a broken track. How technology has moved on!

Ive been a little busy since September of last year as I decided to change career direction. I want to move into ICT Technical Support from Web Design. I`m about to take the OS exam on Thursday which I am not looking forward too since the questions could be about any OS from 95 to Vista. There is also a lots of useless material in the exam that I need to know such as 95 installation switches. I`m begining to wonder if I am wasting my time with A+ because at least if I went for the MCP exams they are more focused and there is a lot less material to revise. Also Ive been for a few job interviews in the UK and the managers come back with silly questions when they see A+ on my CV, such as "is that Microsoft"? So the big question is............do the ICT experts here think the A+ exams are valuable or not? How useful would it be for me, a person who lives in the UK to be registered in a guild of ICT Technicians in the United States? I`m interested in all opinions, even if you've never heard of A+ please say so.. Many thanks, Chiggy.

Sorry fans, this episode was pants. I timed it and I only really needed to watch it from the 33rd minute............this is when the action starts and we move away from the soap opera. Frankly I dont care who Star Bucks hubby is banging? Do you? I however I find his dated hair style very amusing. The final five eh.........why not just make everyone in the series we have ever met a cylon? Totally pointless, but no doubt we will establish they are not clyon after all. Starbuck eh.....nice cheeky return and smile from her. About the only thing I enjoyed. I wonder how much the special effect of the fleet losing its FTl drive cost.....did this put the series over budget for this season I wonder?

Your right....this episode was about trying to build an arc....you have to remember that B5 had shed loads of episodes with a wealth of background material on the main characters before 'the arc' came into being. Battlestar does not have that. Characters such as Ty we hardly know anything about! Theres been no build up at all to him becoming a member of the Final Five in three seasons......just hints! The writers are never going to be able to sort all these plots lines in the 25 minutes of the last episode of the season. This episode should not of been about making as many loose ends for the script writers to refer to later in Season 4. Soap Operas are not what Sc-Fi should be about. If the critics in the past called Star Trek a soap opera......what is Battlestar? Currently theres more action going on in the British Soap opera Coronation Street! The script writers need to get the pens out their asses or this well loved show will die. Theres shows like Heroes around now that are going to decommission Battlestar if it doesnt become more exciting for viewers.

The thing that annoys me about Galactica is the length of the episodes. They are too short. It seams like the re-cap for this episode must of been about 10 minutes long, do I require an extensive reminder as to what I watched less than a week ago? No. So please Galactica producers stop ripping off the public by beefing up your episodes with 10 minute re-caps. Yet again this episode in my mind had only minor developments which I consider to be of little consequence to the main plot of finding earth. It seams all this episode was about was trying to to confuse the fans as much as possible as to who are, and who are not the cylons onboard Galactica. The more I see of the cylons the more I`m begining to think they are bunch of wussies. I realise the writers are trying to create a relationship between the cylon and human but how long has it been since they did something horrid? They need to do something nasty in the finale or I am going to be very upset. Perhaps they should turn the fleet around :-) As for Star Trek episodes........well they had a begining, middle and an end. Ok so Galactica is the 'new era' of sc-fi but for Gods sakes why is there never an end to any of the stories? Please bring in some conclusions and work on other stories..........the presidents cancer can wait. b###h over and out.

Balters attorney is a player...........hes playing everyone along to his tune including Lee. If he can get Baltar off the hook imagine how much work he could get on reputation alone! Well its all clear to me as to whats going to happen. As we havent heard anything from the tin cans for a while they must be working towards the season finale which will no doubt involve the escape of Balter and a glimse into whats happened to Starbuck (although Sackoff has done no more filming for this season). The producers are saving their money to splash out on some special effects for the season finale. This was an interesting episode but for me it didnt really add anything more to the story. It seamed like a very short episode. I was wondering which colony the Irish people in Galactica are from?
