  1. I'm going out on a limb with you Lee... I think Arktis needs to include the users he quotes, plus if Troy is doing what he says about calling his rep, that's true, anyone with a phone and a mouth can do it it. Do they, I don't, I sign the odd petition that circulates, but we should become more involved in controlling these people in government we rag on. But, as far as generalizing US citizens as being stupid or whatever other insults are being thrown our way, remember that those people who generalize don't have much imagination either and are a little slow.
  2. At least that would keep things straight ( ;)str8?) in the church. Seriously speaking though, if you are religious, the Bible makes it clear that men are to be the leaders of the church, but I could be wrong. Naw, I'm not.
  3. Wow, this is definately out of a story somewhere near the twilight zone, just less entertaining. In America we have popularity polls that tell what we think usually after something bad has happened. Somrtimes wars like in Iraq may not be right now, but what if we did nothing? You just don't know. Americans don't have control over our leaders like we should, each home should be equipted with a cable box linked to the white house and when they need an answer they can ask us instead. Then again, would you trust that the average person won't make emotional rather than rational decisions? By the way Antipodean, you can quit being a pussy and just answer the question. New Zealand or Australia? Outside of culture niether has enough of any thing to make a bump on any major countries ass so relax a little and don't try to piss off people. EDIT: and by the way, argueing about Vietnam is like crying over spilled milk isn't it? What can you do about it now. Oh, that's right, you can keep blaming people.
  4. YOUR THE MAN! I DIDNT THINK THAT ANY ONE ON HERE HAD THE BALLS TO BASH THE EUROS ON HERE! And ppl say that Europe can not be confronted for what they did in the past?? can you guys lay out a time table? I mean ppl bash America on the subject of Operation Desert Storm... Vitenam... hell, have seen ppl post crap about the entire american history and how bloody and violent it has been, calling us lying, ignorant, hipocrites... Somehow I think we end up in other people's shoving matches. We don't really gain anything and as far as some of these people are concerned, maybe they don't want to be free.As modern as we are today, there shouldn't be a problem with running a public poll every time the US want's to become envolved. Let the people spend the money because the people pay the bills and send thier kids to be targets in these wars. EDIT: By the the way, I'm not one who cares about what happened yesterday, what can we do to improve the next time. I do learn from mistakes and examplesbut dont think that means we are locked in to a course just because we started on the wrong foot.
  5. I don't care what side of the ocean you're on, Kelly LeBrock in the 80's or Now? Of course she is working on it, but if we were talking about one night stands you know the 80's kelly wins. When the backside goes >POW<, that's what I'm talkin' about!
  6. Wow, you know darn well that's a reality somewhere for some people. It's like the 80's all over again. "Love is but a +2 broadsword away" That was some scary stuff...very funny.
  7. Mav...Please translate that, were you one past your limit or is that a language I don't recognize? Atually, that is pretty fitting since the boys in that picture are pretty funny.
  8. Here's an interview he gave to fox news on the phone thaqt you can watch and listen toRight Click to Download There are all kinds of freakish things going on, but at least this is going to put a roof over someones head...not that bad eh? EDIT: to top it off, Goldenpalace.com also threw in an extra $50,000 on top of the 25 and 20 from the Boston Legal cast.
  9. I got the story from another source and it seems to me that these were just starting points for traansfers, but not where the material comes from. I don't know that I ever got that much that was trully pirated material, like before realease dates, but I bet the percentage of people doing it isn't enough to put a dent in anyones pocketbook. Most of us are doing the downloading for entertainment as much as watching the movies or playing the games. Does that make sense? That finding, downloading and burning the material is as much fun as the material itself?
  10. That's great, I really like the hand of God one. Thanks for the link
  11. The first use of oil was surface ol, which leaked to the surface. If the Romans used steam power for machines they would have processed things eventualy, but whos to say they would have used it to fuel an industrial revolution and not just to create weapons. Back then, with the level of ignorance, the wolrld could have be leveled and mankind distroyed because they were just smart enough to be dangerous.
  12. Actually, yes. Not joking here, I seriously believe that US citizens pay far too little in taxes, both federal and local. We have an insanely low tax rate here, and the system gets more favorable the more money you have. Any conscientious society must necessarily have a high tax rate, to fund government programs, by which I do NOT mean military. But, I am changing the subject, aren't I? But, yes. I believe that Americans in general, and myself in particular, are paying far too little in taxes. This is why I vote for tax increases, whensoever they have real benefit, even if I disagree with the proposed method of distribution of the funds. I would agree with this ONLY if I didn't know that in general, the people in control of the tax money are cuorrupt. Pennsylvania itself is so bad, they just had to repeal a pay raise that they snuck in a few months ago. If a few citizens didn't catch it, we'd have never known, and I'm talking about a 10-20% increase in pay, not just a cost of living raise. And here in PA, you pay Federal, State Local AND an occupational Priviledge tax of $53 a year just for working. Plus EVERYONE pays school tax, whether or not you own property or have kids.I can't even get legal aid or afford an attorney to see my 8 year old daughter, but they will throw me in jail for not paying taxes or child support. Only in America baby...anyone know of a non extridition country with low taxes, subsidized health care and lax drug laws?...Just kidding, I don't think I'd want to give up being free white and American, but the free part is questionable. Edit: To answer the question Troy asked, I paid about 25% in taxes, but the step-kids helped me out there.
  13. Oh, you can bet he'll lose his job somehow. Parents can be real stiff prudes. I don't get it either. I can seethis guy might have issues, I don't know the whole story or him at all, but alot of the parents of my kid/stepkids (8, 14, 15) are really prudish. I'm talking about stuff that's beyond religious beliefs, but like sheltered youth type of prudes. To be honest, I would have to worry about this guy, as a parent, but only until I met him and heard the rest of the story, but then again, I've done more and seen more than most of the other parents in our school district. If they knew my story, they wouldn't let there kids hang out at my house as much as they do, and I let the kids have big partyies too. But noone is left alone and I'm the only one whos ever buzzed so there's my double standard.
  14. Somewher down the thread this also became a discussion of the idea behind the sories, not just the technology. What the story is about doesn't make it science fiction, but the setting and props do. A Star Trek episode set in western times, that's science fiction, but a Twilight Zone episode where a child talks to her dead grandmother over a toy phone is not. Hey...that was pretty good even for me.
  15. And the original subject please.... I really stuck aroud because I was reading about topics that didn't have to do with just sci-fi and nerdy stuff, but real everyday subjects, and with very few exceptions, it felt like I wa contributing to a conversation and not just to my computer. There are a few that stray, and I bet I do too, but all in all, this is a real community rather than a one trick pony. Thanks to all and to all a good night. EDIT: as far as the TV show downloads are concerned, I payed for them when I watched the commercials.
  16. Photoshop doesn't do it (at least not mine), but you can send it to ImageReady to take care of it. Then again, I don't like CS and went back to v7, but the filters and some effects still stay and work fine if you reinstall over CS then uninstall it. EDT: oops, sorry TFMF, you always turn out nice work 9/10
  17. If you downloaded it here, you haven't missed anything, it was tight editing for someone, thay's all and you'll find that's how alot of the action/freaky scenes are, they cut you off before your brain can calculate what it saw. Eventually I'll stick one torrent for the whole season out there without "Previously on Surface...". Episode 13 can be picked up - Go here, it's fast right now because of seeders. Now it's really getting good, my complaint now is not being able to get enough of it. I hope they don't get greedy and try taking this to next season.

    Are you a pirate?

And thank's to c4 for allowing me, and others like me, to share this shameful secret I've kept buried for so long. The pain has been unrelenting, the hours of <<<>> Tell the truth and shame the Devil!!! Can I get an AMEN now!!! Man, check this out, this is a great article I found off of Quosego's sig. DRM is a complete lie (That's Digital Rights Management) And thank's Quosego for a fine read! Can I get my eyepatch now?
  19. Who's trying to be cool in that picture? It might sell something to someone, but I'm not buying it.
  20. Where we live hasn't been that big a problem, so far. Keeping an open mind and asking clear questions seem to work alright here.
  21. You tell 'em c4... yeah... I love getting here about the timeTroy starts spouting sale pitches. I was searching for Enterprise and anything I could download SAFELY from the internet. I used filesharing programs like Kazza & Limewire, but I kept running into these little .torrent files that didn't work right. So after running a search for Enterprise and seeing how well organized and supported this site was...well..here you are now. Over this (almost a year) I have definately learned more than I expected to,and not just in the video and tv genre either.
  22. That was kinda odd. The rest of us aren't slowing down, but the average music consumer is buying more online is the biggest thing I got out of that. This Christmas, we ran out of iTunes and Napster cards, and the "average" consumer (in case you werer wondering) doesn't know HOW to download for free.
