  1. I don't mind the rockets that aren't very loud but the fireworks that make alot of noise irritate me. Plus the "good" fireworks, are illegal in my state here in America ;( Gotta drive to a nearby state to get the good kind. Best we can buy locally is some sparklers or something. What's fun is having a big Roman Candle fight (try not to get burned them things can sting somethin fierce).
  2. she's one of the better written characters in the series in the original, obvious starbuck was a he but he was so two dimensional. he had that whole cheesey 70's hair and attitude. it was like luke skywalker met miama vice met some cheesey male model in the new one, you have this rough and tough chick fighting it out to save her people. while obviously the tone is changed since the character went male to female, the overall personality changed. she's flawed. she has her personality flaws that make us connect to her as a person. the whole thing about giving her soon-to-be husband a passing grade in flight school so she could be with him, the fact she's one of the best pilots they have (if not the best) etc i like while (going off the opinion of most people) she isn't as "hot" as Tricia Heffer (#6) she can go from playing the crack shot pilot to the beauty of the ball in an easy transition (anyone that says she was bad looking in Colonial Day is out of his mind). While I love science fiction above all else, she is very much a reason I watch the show. I rarely give two $hit's about a female character in any show cause most of the time they are there just for sex appeal it's not so much the case in Starbuck's situation.
  3. happy birthday Soulreaper ;)
  4. Well I've almost got the first four episodes of season 12 finished downloading (Bakers first season). But I will give the others a look as well. Is there a site that lists which Dr. was which? I had to google Baker to find out which seasons he did (or more so imdb.com helped really). I figure if there are several really well done trek sites that have information up the wahzoo then there are bound to be some for Dr. Who as well
  5. Just kinda sat around and watched some Xena (i know not the best show but hey I gotta watch somethin while I wait on Dr Who) watched "the ball" drop on tv (american thing) and called relatives to wish them a happer new year but thats about it

    Happy New Year

happy new year and for those of us who dont celebrate the new year hope you are having a wonderful day/night
  7. 22 minute episodes? Kinda..short. How does anything ever progress with such short episodes/little content?
  8. It was alright, nothing to write home about it. It was slightly better than Generations. Sad though, while Insurrection wasn't much more than a beefed up two-part episode, it was still superior to Nemesis and Generations

    Hand To Foot Combat

while Good Kirk is the more shoot first diplomacy later compared to other good captains, he'd still lose to Evil Kirk. Evil Kirk would probably go that one extra mile that Good Kirk couldn't like fighting dirty or killing hostages for no reason
  10. Just a nitpick but um, since when is The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe (Narnia) considered "science fiction"? It's up there with Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Earthsea, etc
  11. Different countries have the different schedules, Canada is quite ahead of America atm Next week we get 2x11 of all three shows
  12. One question, actually a confirmation to see if I get it right; Each season is broken down in 5 or 6 "episodes". Each "episode" is then broken down into multiple smaller parts, i.e. Robot the season opener for Season 12 is in 4 parts, each part getting it's own 350 meg file (which I assume will be between 45 minutes to 60 minutes minus commericals). Correct or am I off base in left field on my assumption?
  13. Oh and the whole Trekkie/Trekker thing, Roddenbury is the first one to coin the term Trekkie as fans of Star Trek, Trekker kinda just came into the scene later around the time of TNG.
  14. Aight I guess I'll pick up wherever Tom Baker starts
  15. I'm sure Winamp Tv/Radio will have a pirated copy of the stream, and there are pluggins for Winamp to rip those streams to your HDD as well.
  16. If you notice, S1 had the two versions of the opening them (US and UK) whereas S2 here in the US now sports the same opening as the UK. Personally I love the UK opening vs the US, it's quite beautiful.
  17. http://www.shipschematics.net/bsg/faq.html - schematics of the ships http://www.thescifiworld.net/ - some New and Original BSG stuff (though mostly SG1/SGA) http://scifi.about.com/blbgpix9.htm - basically a mirror of all the good stuff off of Scifi.com http://galactica.emedian.net/index.html - your best bet for BSG stuff, entire site is nothing but high res screen shots of all current episodes up till 2x10 http://bsgmedia.org/ - also another large archive of high res screen shots
  18. Well, other than the space scenes, the Centurians are all CGI which means digging more into the show's budget. Now they do have room to work with, they aren't hurting for money but ya know, they just can't have Centurians running around for 20 minutes of screen time out of each 45 minute episode (minus commercials). Storywise, the Centurians (and Raiders) are basically the grunts. They are akin to Viper Pilots; they fight, do the leg work, and protect the fleet (or ground forces). The Human Model Cylons are the leaders they do the thinking, the strategizing and planning, the Centurians act apon those choices and basically do as they are told. Their A.I. is less capable than the Human Models, other wise they'd be superior since it takes a large blast (non standard issue bullets) to take down a Centurian where as a knife would can kill a Human Model. I think they use them at good times. I did think they've been used a little less in season two than I'd like, but we still have ten more episodes to go so we'll probably see more of them.
  19. So a "jahren" is BSG jargon for "year"?
  20. Definitely New BSG. Better stories, better plot, much better characters (god Starbuck is hot) and just an overall better feel than original BSG.
  21. If you follow this shortcut http://www.penny-arcade.com/redir.php?id=10594&url=https://secure.eve-online.com/ft/?sk=PENNY (thanks to Penny Arcade) You can sign up for a free 14 day trial, no credit card needed. Full version of the game, 500 or so meg client that is up to date (last time I checked a couple weeks ago).
  22. IE Tab looks nice, I prefer the context menu setup of IE View
  23. With nothing left to watch (I've seen pretty much everything) I decided to give the Who man a go. I hestiated in the past cause lord knows there's like 30 years of the show, that's a tad intimidating. From what I know thanks to the Who fans in irc, I don't need to start from the very beginning. The seasonal story arcs (i.e. the meat and potatoes of the show) don't start until around the 1980's (real world time period), so which season(s) were in that time? I'd like to skip the early stuff that is mostly "filler" and just get into the core of the series where every thing from Daleks to Time Lords to the time traveling phone booth (or dimensional traveling, whichever I forget). I'm not biast so I won't really have an opinion on "which" Dr. I start with, just I want to get the full show version explaination of the characters and technology before hitting up the current stuff.
  24. This will turn out bad ;o If you remember Outwar(s) then you'll know what I mean
