  1. There are plenty of things to use Bittorrent legally. Alot of Linux and Unix distro's use BT as a source of downloading. Blizzard's World of Warcraft game, has a built in update system for patches that is loosely based off of BT. Many sites off official companies also use BT for releasing things, such as Funcom whom makes Anarchy Online (free game).
  2. happy birthday burlone & nocompromise ;)
  3. Is the 2005 one still 30 minute episodes? (counting commericals). I never cared for 30 minute shows, theres just not enough time to put on a storyline. Hour long is the way to go ;)
  4. Well after watching some of the beginning of season 12, I think I'll try the more updated versions, like 2005. I never really cared for old, old, science fiction (I never liked Kirk's star trek). It reminds me too much of Red Dwarf, it has it's moments of science fiction but it's mostly dry humor that I don't understand half the time ;( That and it appears incredibly low budget ;p Who plays the 2005 Dr.?
  5. Couldn't you just snail mail it instead of using Fedex (or whichever depending apon whatever they have in Canuckland)? That should be cheaper.
  6. Hard hard choice. I love C4's, other than some slight blending thingies, it's great. Love how it runs the sprectrum of Trek to Dr. Who Mateya's is also done extremely well. While not animated, they are beautiful little banners that are damn good. I like how he made a series of them like others did, I enjoy his use of shades and colors. But since we can only use one banner, I voted C4's .gif ;)
  7. Trek by far. We have many more fans that SW will ever have ;)
  8. I like it. I mean hey, when didn't Kirk get his groove on ;p Though I'd have gone with him kissing Uhura, that made some headlines.
  9. Fan series right? I'll check it out, can't be that bad.
  10. Afaik (correct me if wrong), Section 31 was and has operated outside of Federation law for quite some time. What they do, they do "in protection" of Starfleet and the Federation. Just cause they engineered the virus aganist the Changelings (which they infected Odo with to spread...) doesn't mean the higher ups in Starfleet approved it, hell most probably didn't even know about it until Bashir brought it up. There are many more ways to get that kind of power. Why not have Riker just ask Q for a second chance? Q and the Continuim have always had an inkling about him and wanted him apart of them, I wouldn't put it past them to give him that second chance. Then he could just turn around and in a snap of his fingers do away with whatever threat they faced, without the need for Omega Particles ;p Granted thats more of a stretch than some other methods, but with the proper build up and execution, it'd be cool.
  11. All good points. There's some serious flaws to the general economic system that I've yet to figure out; While the point of too few jobs for too many people is somewhat true, you'd think with 7 billion people world wide, there'd be more jobs not less. I think this is in part to a good chunk of companies hiring less for mass jobs than they want. Like garbage men. In America, or at least in my city in America, garbage men come once a week, at a time period, for my specific neighborhood. Thats about normal right. But at the same time it takes them quite a while to do the entire city. If they hired an additional 1/3 of their work force or even 1/4 they could shave off like half the time required, half the man power to be spread out and half the cost of gas and labour-per-hour to get it done. But the companies cut corners by hiring less, cause in the end it's cheaper for them. Which leads me to alot of jobs, going over seas. When I chose my career, pc technician, I could have went IT (networking and stuff). There's alot of money in that business. But as time has gone on, more big companies like Dell are out sourcing tech support to call centers in India. So while you have purchased an American computer from an American company located locally in your home country, when you call tech support you are literally being patched through to a call center in the Middle East. Nothing aganist Middle Eastern people but those jobs are being given there cause people work for alot less. Minimum wage here is like $5.25 an hour, over there people work for much, much less per hour.... I think it'd be a good thing to have "less" ditch diggers. As time has gone on more jobs are being done easily by automated systems or even our primative version of robots. Sure we'd still need garbage men and stuff but at some point it's not going to be too far of a stretch to program a garbage truck to follow an X path and pick up trash (ok maybe a while down the road, cause of A.I and stuff but you get the point). While we'd have to sacrifice some people to still be ditch diggers we'd increase our pool of scientific minds ten fold. Maybe we'd get a cure for major diseases quicker. Maybe we'd make strides into space exploration alot faster. Sky would be the limit and we'd have more people building toward it. Nothing sucks worse than looking an 18 year old kid in the eye, knowing he or she has tried their best studied the hardest they can and given 170% effort only to be told by teachers and guidance counsolers "not everyone, goes to college".
  12. happy birthday old georgey boy
  13. No way to know. On one hand most of the Federation and Starfleet would probably take the higher stance and never even think of using it. Same reason why in Nemesis you don't see the Enterprise E using any of the future technology Voyager brought back. Then again when you have people like the Maquis who will do what they think is right to save people, who's to say they wouldn't try. All I know is if the Borg have had heavy casulties resulting from toying with this, it cannot be good...
  14. 2x11 airs next friday, Janurary 6th here in America on the Sci Fi channel. thank the lords of kobol, it's been a long three months
  15. Johnathan Frakes. I always enjoyed his stuff personally. The Ent ending was crap all around. Shoulda ended with EMPRESS SOTO! ;o
  16. Well, if it didn't involve needless experimentation nor hurting of any living human, yea I'd be for it. Some would think it might be "unnatural" to fiddle with DNA at a fetal level or even a young childhood level but hey, if it helps people out go for it. The saying goes "the world needs ditch diggers" which is true, but who's to say we can't make those people as smart as the rest of us.
  17. I wasn't a huge Jake Sisko fan but Visitor was a great episode. It added a new twist on the sometimes-overused time travel/warp angle. Quite sad but still a terrific piece of Trek writing.
  18. 13 episodes before they canned it, low ratings
  19. i think it's still a cam, the dvd probably won't be out till at least around the end of Feburary or March so the dvd won't surface till a week or so prior to that
  20. Excellant find, I will have to give this a try. I'm sure a skinner/modeler can whip up some SGA character's in no time

i loved s9 so far. it's what you call a rebuilding season. we have to get used to the "new guy" as usual which in this case shouldnt take any effort cause it's our boy Ben tearin it up out there. plus with pretty much all the Goa'uld gone, Replicators gone, Anubis gone, we have to introduce a new villian, which can take time. Be patient, and good things will come
  23. I voted TNG but in reality it's a toss up between TNG and DS9. DS9 was great and anti climatic at the same time. I had grown tired of the Gul Dukat/Kai Wynn stuff a while back and I really did not enjoy Sisko's..ending. I expected more for his character. TNG was classic till the end. While it wasn't as action packed, it began with Q it ended with Q I loved that. Such a fitting ending. If anything detracted from this episode it was Generations where the Enterprise D gets owned. All Good Things had not one but three Enterprise D's owning other people but one of them was the cool future Enterprise D with 3 warp nacells and enhanced weaponry ;)
  24. If you ever prescribe to the "ghost in the machine" type theory you know something will always not work 100% correctly with any machine. Computers, cars, etc they all have their little gremlins that can do whatever. Most times it's something small that can be worked around other times, it's somethin that'll make you pull your own hair out ;p
