  1. Shame about the 11kHz, 8bit wavness of most of the themes, though... Edit: Now, all they need to do is make a full version of the new doctor's theme, and all's well ^^ (has a 2+ minute version of the original tune...)
  2. Ummm... if everyone used the same chips, the producer of those chips would be able to ask what they want, cost-wise. It's called a 'monopoly', and it's very bad. Personally, though, I wouldn't mind if Apple went to AMD, not Intel. Intel has enough share of the market as it is...
  3. ... that could simply be another Bad Wolf symptom, like the posters, the alien voices, etc... incidental to Bad Wolf, but not directly connected. That one seems pretty likely to me... the tardis is a big place, after all. Heh... I think that was a 'joke' spoiler...
  4. Oh, the Hitchhiker's Guide movie... It was good, I guess, and vaguely Hitchhiker shaped... but it wasn't the same story. It may have -looked- a lot like the Hitchhiker's Guide, but they made too many story changes... Yup, now I've just got to track down the BBC series again... now THAT was quite faithful to the book ^^
  5. I said STEREOTYPICAL Vikings, not REAL vikings -_-'...
  6. More and more arrows pointing to... 1) The Doctor being the Bad Wolf, or 2) The "Bad Wolf' is piggypacking or directly associated with the Doctor... 3) The Face of Boe... also connected to the Face of Boe, possibly in conjunction of the Doctor...
  7. Actually, 'Battlefield' is the last one involving UNIT as a group... it's a season after Silver Nemesis... plus a cameo from Lethbridge Stuart.
  8. ... or it could be that they'd have to write up agreements for using pictures of the other actors with those actors or their estates... As far as in-series references, I'd agree with RSAntilles... maybe he's only looking for Doctors that match the current one's description... or he found info about other ones, but without enough description to give him the impression they looked different. Maybe it's just that the only picture sources he had were of the most recent Doctor, out of sheer coincidence... Waitamin... didn't Clive say that the Doctor had different appearances, though? (Methinks I have yet another excuse to rewatch... ^^)
  9. Folding@home <- a big one... works on various protein folding experiments intended for a wide variety of solutions Distributed Computing Project Links <- more are listed here...
  10. "Oh these foolish men! They could not create so much as a worm, but they create gods by the dozens." --Michel de Montaigne
  11. I don't think he did... He seems to think it's about people prolonging life in their birth body, as opposed to transferrence of intelligence. Besides, immortality is a misnomer, practically speaking. The best we could get is an indefinite lifespan, which is wholly different... chance events will always kill us off eventually, and unless we figure out how to leave the universe, we'll only last 'til heat death / the big crunch happens. Heh... there's no more empirical support for reincarnation than there is for heaven. Still, believe what you will, as long as it doesn't cause anyone's premature death ^^ Also... there's a lot of evidence that longer life spans have contributed to human advancement, just like increased leisure time. Longer lifespans = more chance of embarking on long term research tasks that would otherwise be either nonviable or delayed by passing data on between generations. Now, if we could just get rid of this pathological dislike for smarts that breeds in the school system and the addiction to excessive profits that comes afterwards... Edit: Still, I'm not sure I like the idea of being purely resident in a virtual space... but by that time, hopefully they'll be able to supply these digital copies bodies... and hopefully we won't be confined to this planet. Hey! Digital backup would make the -best- form of life support for interstellar trips... this invention, if it happens, could lead to long distance space travel!

    Religion

I believe that the creation of the universe was the creator of the universe ^_^ ... and that's not really the tautology it may resemble. *sigh* Sometimes I really dislike english... 'Creation', 'Formation', 'Making'... all imply a creator, a former, a maker... other than 'evolution' (which only applies to gradual selection), there's no simple word for spontaneous formation without implying someone or something did the forming ;p... 'Spontaneous generation by random events and chance' gets pretty darned cumbersome -_-'
  13. Honour, like everything else, is very relative and invariably personally defined. One person's 'honorable behavior' is another person's 'atrocity'. The best thing we can really do is work towards actions that have the least negative impact on everybody ^^... THAT, is honorable to me ^^

    Gay Trek.

Ahh... but LOVE is probably an evolved mechanism to promote reproduction... and a VERY nice one as well ... wouldn't have it any other way, either ^_^
  15. Heh... I don't even have a TV... I simply borrow a friend's to watch Dr. Who and a couple other shows on TV. That's it.
  16. Without Time Lords to supress mucking around with time, wouldn't that mean that others could take over where they left off (and never were in the first place due to erasure?)
  17. The thing is... isn't the thing on Gallifrey called the 'Eye of Harmony', and aren't the smaller things on Tardises also called 'Eyes of Harmony'... and draw power from the core Gallifreyan one? Edit: As for the above theory, the Doctor pretty much said the destruction was mutual and implied it was simultaneous...
  18. It won't be the end of sci-fi eps from them... they may try other concepts ^^ Eventually, they'll probably go back to the Star Trek universe, though...
  19. Given the Time Lords were wiped out in the Time War, they probably think of the combatants as myths... if they know about them at all. After all, if there's no sign of them anymore throughout history, how could they treat 'em as anything but myths, if that. When thinking about it, I think he's using an inclusive single-stream concept for time. Example... A man goes back in time to when the first primates were evolving, kills them all off, and dolphins evolve to sentience. With the Doctor Who view of time, that guy wouldn't suddenly vanish... instead, he'd remain, remembering his future, but no longer able to go there. He's a necessary part of the current future, so he continues to exist... but his future doesn't exist as anything but his own possessions, company, and memory. In essence, he HAS to be around in order to cause the current future even though the original future is gone. Extend that to past and present, and it seems we've got the Doctor Who time model ^_^... of course, anything from that future also ceases to exist unless it was with him. Hopefully, that makes some sense... Edit: To -really- bend your mind, it may explain why his TARDIS still has power... maybe it's drawing energy from his past's Eye of Harmony, even though it doesn't truly exist anymore in the current context... Naah, too nutty and paradoxial ;)
  20. Scratch that... the date of publication for the first Gap book is 1991... two years after the Borg were introduced in Star Trek. Either it's parallel and seperate development, or he snagged the idea ^^
  21. Ahhh... those pics bring back memories ^^
  22. Given that I live in Canada I can see the eps on TV... I still download them for later rewatching, though ^^
  23. Didn't someone mention they were going to ditch the trailer? I hope so... I hate trailers -_-'... they always dull the surprise of the next episode.
