  1. Perhaps common phrases such as' kaplah' have no entry in the universal translator database because they are common phrases which the majority understand, so they requiring no translation. Romulans had been monitoring human communications for hundreds of years why would they not be able to speak English? It would be the duty of a Romulan soldier to know the language. As for the Jemedar...........perhaps their genes were encoded with the knowledge pertaining to their foes?
  2. Ive always wondered what kind of person I`m playing against when online. This video confirms my suspicions. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=zYQ3b8EOMF0&mode=related&search= I dont believe that guy is on his own, its kids and adults the world over. Do you think there might be any health implications? In the mean time I`ll stick to turn based games! ;)
  3. One has to assume the worst. This movie has either flashbacks or time travel. The movie may even focus on the time after Kirks death after Generations which would explain his absence..........in my opinion thats the only excusable reason that I`m going to buy in regard to a missing Shatner Kirk.
  4. I realised that we have discussed this one before. But now Nimoy is confirmed and Shatner isnt, how do we all feel about that here? At Shatners recent public appearance in Las Vegas, the man sure seamed intent on getting a part and the crowd went mental when he asked them if he should take part! So if Shatner is indeed picking up all these awards for his other shows why hasnt he got a part? Spock but no Kirk.............is it really Star Trek?
  5. I have tried to use the DL Manager several times.............however please do not see my comment as an all out assualt on this lovely forum I so often frequent but is there any chance of an increase the file size limit? That is the main reason why I was discouraged from using it. Thanks.
  6. Like the subject says............what are the best Star Trek documentaries in your opinion? Since I`m waiting on the new film, seen all episodes/films many times I figure its a good time to watch all documentaries. How William Shatner Changed the World was always one of my favourites.......that was shown on Channel 5 here in the UK.
  7. Hi Kyran, Since I got the A+ Ive actually had less ICT job interviews! Even the ICT Trainee jobs seam like they are out of reach! Your point is noted, I dont have enough commercial experience. Ive asked several employers if they would let me work for them for free and not one has been tempted! One can only assume that it is because they think I will be some sort of drain on their resources and time. Starting my own business is something Ive considered but due to my location in the UK there isnt high demand and people who want repairs usually dont want to pay for them. They would rather bin a PC with a failed PSU and buy a new box! College is starting up again soon and I`m going to do the Network + regardless. I`m still totally lost as to how to even start a career as an IT practitioner?
  8. All my family hate Star Trek as do all my friends. My dads more of a fan of vintage SC-FI that would include the original Flash Gordon and the Rocketeer (if thats his name!). My Aunt likes Dr Who, but I despise the show! One day when I am "the daddy", we shall be watching Star Trek in my household! ;)
  9. I just watched the last 3 episodes of season 4 again. Is Tpols and Trips child supposed to be Star Trek I wonder, some sort of metaphor going on there? Now I must say that the death of Trip was a little needless. How the hell did a few space pirates manage to board a starship so easily with out triggering any censors? The clip with all three Enterprises made up for Trips death! lol I`m suprised no one has made that into an avatar.
  10. Glad someone is paying attention ;) The documentary goes on to say that many fans were lost because DS9 was not seen to be as high brow as TNG in regard to the technologies and scientific nature of some of the episodes. I always thought that TOS era was when the Enterprise first encounters the Romulans, so for Archer to get into major scuffles with them wouldnt of been correct. Anyway there are two Romulan episodes in Season 4 and the Romulan mine field episode from I think Season 1? I know John DeLance has been done to death but I would of loved for him to just drop in on Enterprise and mess the crew about. He always made me laugh.
  11. There are other great moments of Season 4...........mirror universe episodes are yet another. I was speaking with a fan the other day and those episodes were his favourite from any series. Enterprise was slow to get started........but so was B5. In various documentaries that have been made concerning the 60th Anniversary it is in fact DS9 that is pointed too as partly to do with the first initial decline. Many thought that DS9 did not have the intelligence of TNG.......so it is really from this point that the fanchise was starting to lose its popularity. To be honest the people who slag Enterprise off are generally the ones who havent seen all the episodes......so in my mind their opinion is not one to be considered valuable. Everyone was so quick to judge.
  12. Shame you havent got faith of the heart guys! I actually like the theme tune, as it made a change from orchestra jobs which have been done to death. The theme in my opinion represents the optimistic attitude of what Star Trek is all about, sorry you dont agree. What I dont like is the closing credit theme.........there's a cliff hanger at the end of the episode and your hit with a theme worse than Buck Rogers! In my opinion any season of Enterprise beats the last season of Battlestar. Theres just so much interesting stuff going on, it can never be described as boring viewing. I find the new format of Sc-Fi involving lovers triangles and family arguments totaly boring and not at all Sc-Fi. I dont watch soap operas for a reason simply because they are mindless drivel. If there are only 2 million US Star Trek fans then shame on everyone else who calls themselves a Star Trek fan and didnt tune in. Shows are like football teams, if one is seen to be failing many 'glory hunter' fans switch sides whilst only the truly dedicated fans stick with it to the end. In the UK our problem was that the show was being aired by a new channel that had presenters who didnt know any better, taking the piss out of it when they introduced it. You could tell the presenters werent fans, those dedicated followers of of the masses........more glory hunters.....which sadly is the majority of the public in the UK. Getting back to the thread Season 4 has Bent Spiner for 3 whole episodes............how can you not like that!?!
  13. My choice would be the most requested piece of music in Paramounts HISTORY. The Flute Song http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/3693/star_trek_composer_jay_chattaway_strikes.html In regards to theme tunes it would have to be Enterprise Season 3.......because after Season 3 they added the guitar so now I can busk in my city in the high street singing about Star Trek. Second choice would be the theme for Staship Troopers and the third the Jedi theme from ROTJ when Luke is about to walk the plank into the Sarlac Pit.
  14. I`m sure this has been done before, but if you could take only one episode from any Star Trek series to a desert island which would it be? My choice would be The Inner Light - TNG "Seize the time, Meribor - live now! Make now always the most precious time. Now will never come again."
  15. I`m re-watching Enterprise at the moment to try and make an accurate comparison between this show and newer Sc-Fi shows such as BSG and Heroes. Being a Trekster I`m going to have to say that I do enjoy Enterprise more than the newer shows, I'm a ST fan and thats the problem! I get the feeling that this show was written with fans in mind. Despite all the time line goofs, I like to think that the time line we see in Enterprise didnt actually occur prior to TOS or TNG which explains why Archer never gets a mention, it is in essence a ST show based in the future not the past. Enterprise certainly had the best special effects of any ST series. So my vote is yes. Its a shame Enterprise was cut short particulary for ST fans. The problem wasnt Enterprise, the problem was the two words 'Star Trek'. With everyone the world over trying to be 'cool dudes' or 'cool gals', watching Star Trek isnt something the masses consider as the hip thing to do. The franchise killed Enterprise. For the new Star Trek film or any new series to be popular Star Trek needs to be repackaged and re-sold to the masses, a lot like Skoda cars were in the UK. To do this the most creative and intelligent minds will need to be hired because this will be a tall order. For the producers of the new film the fate of a franchise rests in your hands........no pressure :-)
  16. Sucked sacks. I hate Smallville Smallville should of been cancelled after season one, it was a mistake letting a numpty who made that show near Flash. Letting Sc-Fi re-make these big names is a mistake..........if they havent got the budget to hire good script writers, directors and cast then why even bother if all one is going to achieve is the total destruction of a franchise.
  17. I am enjoying the single player at the moment. I must of spend about 6 hours playing the defence of Carentan on Hard...........trying to get those 350 kills needed for the Bronze Star is just a tad hard. I know I need to Defend the munition points where the Germans spawn.
  18. Would like to see the Borellian Noman return or maybe even some tougher humans like the ice planet zero commandos from original series who inhabited the more inhospitable colonies?
  19. I just bought this second hand.....Dawn of War came free in the box. All for 12 pounds which I thought was a bargain. COH is "mint" and very addictive. Remember the first day you played Command and Conquer? Re-live that moment! One of the best things about the game is that tanks can actually drive through buildings, where as before in lesser games a building was an obstruction. The sniper actually works like a sniper too. Its the best sniper system Ive seen.
  20. In three series as far as I can remember we havent seen as much as a wild wabbit! Do think Larson will introduce any new lifeforms besides humans and cylons? Would you want to see the return of the Ovion People (those insect like dudes) from the original series? Or would you be content with only new models of cylon? Its seams like we havent even begun to explore the BSG universe in the new series.
  21. The massive build up........the hundreds of episodes...........the conspiracy revlealed! Then I watched the final episode and realised that the conspiracy had been concluded by a script writer with the ability of a 5 year old.......I laughed at all the hardcore fans. ....and we thought the ending of Voyager was bad.
  22. KING OF THE IMPOSSIBLE!.........in the lyrics of Queen. I`m glad Flash is making a return after 20 years. They should of made another film, the end sequence certainly was geared up towards the return of Ming or should I say Ring! Bring black Brian Blessed is what I say - Prince Vultan. This time grow the beard twice the size of that in the film! Then again he was in Phantom Menace so does that mean hes bound by contract? Forget your poetry Brian..........Gordons alive! My guess is I`ll be disappointed as I've always hated Smallville with a passion. To me it was just another poor excuse for more teen drama drivel. Then again how can a writer turn Flash into a teen drama.......the mind boggles. I just watched the Trailer and the man who kept the Queen theme is a genius.
  23. The UK government sees the answer as Wi-Fi. Sadlly no one can yet prove the damage this does to humans in the UK. I know I wouldnt like to live in a Wi-Fi hotpspot if I had children. We are being used by the government as guinea pigs. The sad thing is that guidelines that actually measure Wi-Fi activity only use thermal levels...........this means that the signals literally have to increase the temperature of your organs before they are considered dangerous. Scientists in both the US and Europe declare the UK Government experts as insane to use this scale! Wi-Fi does cause damage to DNA and induce cancer cells according to their research. I`m on BT myself. I remember one day we had a call from a nice lady in India who asked if I wanted to upgrade from 2MB to 8MB. Like a puppy at meal times with my tongue hung out......I said yeah. However in recent months Ive noticed my connection has been throttled back down to 2 MB! I`m on the basic package. As for PC world.........they werent interested in employing me not even with a science degree, City and Guilds ICT parctioners diploma and A+ Certified Professional. They must have some very well educated staff these days.
  24. The big problem is that the majority of the UK still uses copper wire which creates bottle necks that apparently would be too much hassle to upgrade to fibre. Remember how everyone hated diamond cable? Government is very keen to zap all our brains with Wi-Fi1 There are many reasons why your broadband is slow another is that ISP's become greedy and overload the hardware with far too many users.
  25. Since Firefox went commercial and lots of people have started writing malicious code for it I may well make the switch to Opera.
