I liked the take they had in LEXX season 3&4 :) WARNING* SPOILERS * ******************** Earth was in the far deep of the 'dark universe' , essentially the sh!thole of the two universes, and when "Fire" and "Water" were destroyed (Hell & Heaven), everyone ended up on Earth.. you go figure the rest :D In anyway, a neat twist on things, but for 'reality' I find that extremely unlikely :) We're not that bad, are we?

It reminds me of the best Symphony X song called "Through the looking glass" they actually have a line in the vocals that says "is it as it seems - or just a dream within a dream?" Probably something like that, C4! :) I think btw. that a lot of people in here (and certainly in this thread) likes to get caught up in "technological superior" debates. What does tech really matter if the people are unfit to wield it or inferior in a multitude of other things? Tech is certainly 'cool' and fascinating, interesting and good (if used properly), but I think there is quite some more to a species rather than tech alone...

Yes, it does. I think there too many... loopholes in most religions, and too much personal interest (by "'holy' people" ?? ...) and as GorunNova pointed out before in this particular page, belifs should evolve; is there a law that beliefs should stay put while the rest of nature and the universe constantly moves and evolves? I had the best argument a few years ago with my former boss; when things started getting 'heated' his every defense was "but it says so in the Bible" (and the book of course was infallable), now.. a healthy portion of Faith is good, but not on the brink of insanity. Another thing I like to work with, is the fact that we're not doing well going 100% "spiritual" nor 100% 'to the flesh' (bigbrother lifestyle, purely the secular etc.) I believe our best nature is within the middle, and why, because both natures exist, around us and within us. For one thing being all monk is like denying life... to make it short; to become an exalted nothing does really terminate the reason for being and experienced, and likewise going 'too far' on the other more physical/living end.. take a good idea for that is when Bender from Futurama turned human in the 'what if' episode. Anyhow, to really dig in into this, requires a huge essay and I respect you all enough not to write it down :D Point is; anyone can be who they are, and be true their inner natures (spiritual, physical, mental whatever), their being, and be 'spiritual', 'holy' and LIVING in a simple natural way without the 'need' for organized religion. Btw. the need for it has been told to us for generations; 'we need the church' and yaddayadda... could there be a self-serving reason in that I wonder? well enough of me, you go on and yammer on - I'm still exploring.

C4: if you really like the 4400 you MUST see Taken. I see a lot of inspiration from that show in the 4400..some actors too ;) I loved Taken, can't see why it isn't around here..YET - a disgrace to any scifi community - when my computer starts working again (currently using a secondary computer setup) I'll continue watching the 4400 as well.

People... behave - has that sense of common sense and respect gone out the window since I took a break or what? Does most of you consider yourself adults or near-adults? Or am I mistaken and you're only adults "physically" ? What were those commonly accepted rules again about trolling and flaming..? Didn't we recently go through these? Listen to Fenriswolf, do yourselves a favour and stop embarassing yourselves, be who you are, don't be who you are not even tempting as it may be.. I'm going to add my own opinion to this thread: I concur with Madmartha, I didn't like Janeway, I even wanted to try, but I'd rather say that in the rank of captains my list would be: 1)Picard 2)Sisko 3)Archer 4)Kirk 5)Janeway and it has nothing to do with the fact that she's a woman. I respect women, a great deal. Personally I think DS9 and Enterprise were the best, and also the only 2 shows who dared experimenting a little more, packed with character development. /A
